Sorry to bother everyone. The wifes car has developed a noise in the back, that seems to be similar to how some old roof racks sounded when driving, similar to a Droning noise, that starts around 30mph and gets louder as you increase speed. I have swapped known good tyres off mine, onto the back to eliminate tyre noise.
I have ordered two bearing kits, just incase, but was going to check fluid level in diff first, but wandered if this is the stuff I need to top it up?

But the bottle won't be "sitting in the workshop" because the diff is 1+ ltr from empty
or if it's not empty ,Id be syphoning what is left in and replacing it anyway
so the fancy bottle will be in landfill
2 bottles of the cheaper stuff might have been better IMO

Probably none of the containers will have a long enough spout to get an angle to pour the oil into the filler hole.
A drone from the rear that varies with road speed is almost certainly a worn differential as opposed to the wheel bearings. A problem that afflicts all RWD Opels and Vauxhalls.

If it turns out that the diff, is knackered. Can I fit a diff from any other model? The car is a 1995 2ltr 16V estate petrol Automatic. Would I be able to say fit a diff from a later 2.2, 2.5, 2.6 or even from a 3 and 3.2 ltr. I would imaging the fixing points are the same, between the estates and saloons?

Ideally you want a diff from another four cylinder with the same gearbox as the ratios vary.
One from a 3.2 might make the car undrivable as the change in ratio will affect the road speed in any gear for a given rpm. The 2.0,whilst adequate, isn't blessed with power to begin with.

Fitting and working are two very different things, but yes it will physically fit.
Near as I can tell your car has a 3.90 ratio... That 2.2 is 4.22 which would make it lively but horrible to drive much over 50.
One from a 3.2 or later 3.0 should be suitable as they're also 3.90

Haynes says that all 2.0 models, manual and automatic, use 3.90:1 diffs.
The 2.2 16v use 3.9:1 for manual and 4.22:1 for auto.
There should be a tag plate on your existing diff. There is a two character type code at the top right. The lower line on the plate states the ratio, in your case "39 : 10=3.90". At this age the tag plates are often lost.

Thanks for the info. The plate has gone from the diff. Will keep looking for a diff, just incase the oil change doesn't help the one on the car.

In 22+ years of Carlton and Omega ownership I've found syphoning all remaining oil from the diff and replacing with new ,then repeating that 2K later (effectively flushing out the gunge) resolved any diff noise .
as long as you don't have a bad leak :-\

After 16 years of Omega's i've only had to have one diff fitted with new seals and one rebuilt with new bearings, the chap said it's quite common that when one of the bearings fail the others follow shortly after as the swarf mixes with the diff fluid and turns it into an abrasive soup! Oh and bearings for Omega Diffs are pretty hard to come by now :'(

what ? leave the bad leak and just fit a diff oil tank and top it up daily ? :D

I have been looking around for another diff, just incase replacing oil on wifes car, doesn't solve the problem.
I have found one, that is from a 03.1997 2.0 16V petrol 100kW 136PS (X20XEV) with a 5-speed manual transmission (GJ 062 97 A). From my understanding, even though this one is a manual and the wifes is a auto the gear ratio is the same one on the wifes car. Is that correct?
