Hi, I have an omega 2.2 dti with a knackered fuel pump. I cannot find a used working fuel pump out of an Omega anywhere, the only ones I can find are from a vectra 2.0 dti and zafira 2.0 dti I cam anyone help me understand what the diffrrences are between the pumps and if they'd fit an omega? Many thanks

I would have thought they are the same as excess fuel gets returned to the tank. The Vectra and Astra/Zafira was also sold with the 2.2 diesel iirc.

This site seems to confirm it's the same pump.

Think the issue you'll have is the coding on the EDC.
What has actually failed? The Pump or the EDC?

I've only just looked at that! ;D
There are two failures - the EDC or the Pump but splitting them apart is a delicate operation and will require two cables to be cut then re-joined between the EDC and the donor pump, so simply getting a pump from a different vehicle isn't going to work without swapping the EDC and the EDC may well be the actual problem. Despite that article saying the pumps are reliable I wouldn't put money on that statement now due to the age of them. The EDC's are coded to their installation so a pump from a Y20DTH or Y22DTR isn't going to work on a Y22DTH engine.

I've lost count the amount of times I've replaced fuel pumps on this car, fair enough they have been second hand ones, even with a lift pump fitted still don't seem to last long. I appreciate the input but the question still hasnt beem answered, do the pump numbers correlate to any differences in the pump that anyone knows of? just put a replacement pump in met with a p1651 fml

Probably why the car it came from was scrapped.
I suspect that you either need to find a brand new pump or another solution.
Can one of the replacement pumps be repaired if it is electrically failed :-\

A new pump is out of the question given the prices, nothing is available for a reasonable price. I've had the mosfet repaired but that repair does not seem to last long, it appears there is also a physical problem with the pump that causes the mosfet to burn out. I'm having a last ditch attempt to repair it otherwise its going to the graveyard unfortunately, its a very useful car when working :(

The electronics are cooled by the fuel within the pump.
Extended cranking and running low on fuel cause the gubbins to overheat.
A new pump might be expensive on the face of it, but have you seen the price of cars lately? And I will wager that a new pump adds up to less than you have spent on used ones :-X
