Have removed a leaky HBV on a 2003 2.2 16V. Bit of pain to get the hoses disconnected. Anyway the HBV came out with the vacuum tube still attached. It seems that we accidentally pulled the other end out of it's rubber connector. It's only 5 inches long, so wherever it connects must be very close by.
Am I correct that the mating connector is on the bulkhead somewhere around the heater matrix pipes?
Is it just a rubber socket? And is it flush, recessed or protruding?
Is it just a matter of pushing the tube into the rubber or might the rubber socket have disappeared into the cabin?
I imagine that it would be easier to see what's going on if we disconnect the matrix pipes from the bulkhead. That said, I'm reluctant to risk disturbing them for fear of creating another leak. What's the secret to getting them to disconnect, if it comes to it?
Thanks

They connect to the rubber unit where the heater pipes are as per: (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b394/Marks_DTM_Calib/IMG_0714.jpg)
The connection on the left is the vac feed to the cabin, and the one on the right the connection to the HBV

Thanks for the reply. So my disconnected vacuum tube is the one leftmost just above the first "t" in photobucket. And the vacuum tube just pushes into a rubber socket, which is (hopefully) still in place? On our car we can just about see on our car a countersunk recess.
I can't get the collar on the top matrix pipe to retract. Anybody got any ideas. Looking at the photo here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90557.0) I think the collar is maybe already retracted but it doesn't want to move.

the O ring will be stuck ,try twisting/rotating the pipe clockwise and anticlockwise

I have and with no luck. Maybe I'm not understanding the instructions.
Which is the locking ring that needs to be pulled backwards? Is it the yellowy/white ring or the black collar with the hole in it?
I assume "Press-in the latch", means press in the grooved latch visible in this photo (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90557.0) at approx 2 o'clock on the white ring, in a line from the hole in the black collar.
Thanks,

Lift the thin tab and pull the collar towards the front of the car.
Is how I read it.
