Range Rover passed its MOT a week ago and obviously appears almost instantly on the site, I always pay the road fund license by direct debit, however today I received a reminder to have the vehicle tested to avoid prosecution as my direct debit would cease, don't these departments liaise with each other ?
-
reminder for the MOT? :-\
A few years ago, I let one of my cars' MOT run out by about 10 months. It was only when the gov. website wouldn't let me tax it that I realised :-[

It’s a garage thing. By reminding you, they are more likely to get repeat business because the fat and lazy will simply book it in when the reminder arrives ;)
-
I get my MOT reminder from the DVLA, not my garage.
-
indeed, you can get a reminder by text or email if you set it up on the https://www.gov.uk/mot-reminder (https://www.gov.uk/mot-reminder) website ;)
-
I got two reminders, by post, from the garage, and two texts from DVLA. Both cars are due.
-
Only get mine via the DVLA.
-
I now use an app called Vehicle Smart. It'll remind you when MOT, tax are due. It'll do more if you pay ....
-
Yes, I've got that free app too, and it's very good - it gets the info direct from the DVLA.
You can store all your own vehicles or any previous search you may have a future interest with in your 'garage', so you can check the indvidual dates of expiry of all your vehicles in one go with the touch of a button, rather than going into to the DVLA site for each particular vehicle.

I'm not old and forgetful yet, so I can remember when to tax and mot my cars... And the sticker in the windscreen helps ;D
-
Bring back the helpful tax disc reminder, I say..... :y
I keep MOTs in line with the date of registration which makes ot easier to remember - if a newly purchased vehicles MOT is out of sync with the registration date with some 'helpful' garage giving a subsequent owner a 12 month MOT on purchase, I still retest it so it coincides......

.
I simply keep a diary always have for over 30 years everything of importance is in that including dates for vehicle maintenance tax & insurance etc, never forgotten anything yet. The DVLA started sending me reminders after I put private plates on .

Which is what I use. Only the Freetard version, obviously :)

I have this thing on the wall with spaces on it for every day of the year, divided up in to 12 seperate pages. I write the vehicle MOT dates on that and as its by the kitchen, have to pass it every time I enter said kitchen, so its always in eye line. Also meand I can enter details of what shift I am on
