Title: Words that make you cringe
Post by: STEMO on 28 September 2022, 21:17:38
There are certain words that conjure up horrific images in your mind. I was watching a hospital programme on telly earlier and there was a fella who's big dog had made a break for it, while he had the lead over his hand and around his wrist. He was 'de-gloved' on one hand. De-gloved....yuk 🫢🤢🤮

I've heard of peoples fingers getting skinned when a ring gets caught in something but never a whole hand.  :o

I might say 18 grand but it is only people with red braces who say 18K. :)

I also really dislike gendered words and terms that have been with us since the dawn of time suddenly becoming gender neutral, so that a small group of pink-haired left wing window lickers don't get upset. :)

It's an upset world, Opti. They get upset at being misgendered, and we get upset that such a word even exists.

Isn't it a sad indictment that something like that would not get past the censors now?  :(

That one irks me too. Swmbo hates it with a passion. Every time she hears it on TV she launches into a tirade of abuse against whoever said it.
Meanwhile, Ive missed the next 10 minutes of the programme.  ::) ;D

Years ago, a lad at work asked if he could lend a spanner. I said yes .... who to? The penny eventually dropped after he'd repeated it a few times before he asked to borrow a spanner.  ::) ::)
