I now have a problem with my Omega where it sometimes locks or unlocks with the remote and sometimes doesn’t , I’ve changed the fob battery twice in two different keys and now have a new main battery but this hasn’t solved it. If I unlock it with the key the sounder and alarm go off until I start the engine - not ideal. Any ideas?

Lock it with the key and not the remote. This then prevents the alarm from sounding when you unlock it with the remote.
It could also be that both keys require resyncing to the car. There is a guide.

I have synced both keys a couple of times.

silly question but do the remotes flash red when tried. if not then you know its most likely a fault in them . usually battery holder or microswitches.( and does the boot release work everytime .? )

Other considerations would be interference from external sources as there are significantly more sources of potential interference that hadn't been dreamt of when the Omega was new.
Unlock the car with the key and immediately turn the ignition on and start the car. That should turn the alarm off.
Then switch off, remove key and close all the doors. Lock with the key, then turn and hold the key in the lock position for at least two seconds.
Now when you unlock the car the alarm shouldn't go off then you open the door.

The red lights flash in the remotes, so they are working. Thanks DG,I’ll give it a try. Doesn’t seem to be any pattern to this. Intermittent faults are the worst kind! Boot release is hit or miss too.

I've the exact same issues in every respect with one of mine. I've done everything mentioned here, but it's not resolved it, so anything that actually sorts it will be greatly appreciated... :y

Cant remember the circuit, but red LED coming on when pressing a button may not necessarily mean its working.
Also, the receiver is in the driver's kick panel. Does it work better if the key is near this area.
Lastly, like many older keys powered by CR2032 batteries, the battery needs a bit of recovery time between presses, even when new. So if it fails on first attempt, you will have to either wait several seconds, or get considerably closer to the receiver.

as mentioned above by mr dg external interference can definately be a problem.
mine unlocks/ locks fine everywhere i go even from a distance except in my work carpark. you have to hold the remote to the drivers window to make it work. theres a new mobile mast a few ysrds away !

Had similar issue with my dads Desmond, when parked on one particular carpark which was right next to West Coast Mainline electrified tracks.
Always had to put key near the drivers kick-panel for it to do anything !
