Title: Trip to Breakers
Post by: Gwilym on 07 December 2006, 22:30:39
I am planning a trip to the local (ish) breakers on Fri / Sat who have a facelift estate in. Think it is cdx (but not sure)

If you want any bits then let me know. I am only after some interior parts so I forgot to ask what colour it was (duh).

It should have clear indicator lenses Gwilym - they'd look good on a white motor.  ;)

Yes but that is the problem with going there myself. I will buy lots of things I don't really need but that would look nice.

I actually ment if you want me to get any bits for your cars not if you want to put bits on mine

I know mate, it's a kind offer but I'm ok thanks.  I previously had a W reg GLS and paid £15 to fit clear lenses and thats why I noticed yours on the picture.  But that's the fun of scrappys - coming out with bits you don't need and thinking you've had a great day out.  :y

Alright! You win. I will BUY some clear lenses. So whilst you are at it, what else do you want me to put on my car!

Suggestions gratefully received

Blue lights and reflective stickers - then it'll look like a real police car  ;D

Hi Gwilym, that's very kind indeed...

Could do with a facelift ashtray - I don't mind if it's wood-effect or black etc - the wood-effect trim is clip-on anyway and mine is still good, it's the actual ashtray that's broke.

Flasher unit... that's the tall relay on the left side of the fuse box under the steering wheel.

Also, if the car is black, then the fuel flap.

If you find the bits, PM me your address and I will send you a cheque for the parts and postage.

Many thanks!

Having seen/worked on it in the flesh, I can confirm, that Gwilyms car most certainly was a real police car!

I always thought the indicator/headlight units came as one unit not seperate or does this only apply to facelift omega's

I must admit that I haven't looked at this kind of stuff on the miggy, but side repeaters are usually in the fender behind the front wheel.

Edit, someone got the americanism filter wrong.  F ender=wing not bumper.

Apologies I was thinking the main indicator units in the headlights, :-[ I know these can be changed if the lense is removed.

The reason I thought these was the picture in gwilym signature look to have dark lense indicators at the front.

Side repeaters makes more sense :D ;D

Really generous offer to put this to the forum  :y

If it's got HIDS then I'm after the connector sensor on the passenger side front wishbone - the wiring on mine has come out the connector so I'm after getting the connector with a good bit of wiring on the end of it to splice onto the wires left on mine.  :)

Let me know if you do get hold of them... I'll swap you for beer vouchers, exchangeable at any pub.  ;)

Cheers!

I though F ender was a guitar

Well guys!
Complete waste of time really.

They had the leather interior I asked them to put back for me (they would have posted it if I had asked) but it was as it a pack of vultures had been at the rest. A cdr 2005 and ccr 2006 but other than that nothing. Good job I reserved the seats

Gwilym

They did say they would call me the moment another one comes in

Anyone want a facelift velour set of seats for an estate?

Not Sure. Don't think they are standard MV6 ones but they are what were on the car when I got it and I liked them so haven't made any changes to them. They could do with a refurb though

Yep. Oil and Filter Done

And coolant change again cos I had a new radiator

Nothing for quite a while now I hope but I might start "tinkering"

Dictionary defination of "tinkering" = messing about with something that is perfectly ok when you don't know what you are doing and making it worse than it ever could be if it failed by itself

If you want something productive to tinker with, it would be worth cleaning out the breather system and throttle bodies on your car. Easy job to do, has a great big good impact on the car, and will give you a sense of achievement ;D

Send me the instructions then and I may tackle it on my next day off, just make sure you are free to come and bail me out ;)

I'm going down to help the barge captain with his timing belt/breathers/throttle body very soon..

You'd have to ask him, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you joined us and watched the process!

A couple of beers are also on the cards afterwards ;D

Which is great for me, because I'll likely travel down by train on the way to see the MRS..

I'm going to have a look on my Rota in the next hour and send him a date. I'll ask him if you can come along, I'm sure he'll be more than happy though.

If we can't work something out, I'm happy enough to pop down on another occasion, this time I can make the tea, and you can do the operation :)

Moved out of my warehouse last week so got nowhere to work other than on the drive so might wait for the warmer weather. Seriously though, I am not sure I have a time between now and Christmas so unlikely I will get up when you meet up with Barge Captain.
