Title: A guy stopped me today....
Post by: Danny on 15 September 2008, 14:42:43
....and asked for directions

being a postman, i often get stopped and asked for directions, but today a little different, a middle aged chap in an old VX astra, asks where the Red Lion Pub is, i tell him, and just as i'm about to walk away i notice him move his hand to the steering wheel from between his legs to reveal a half-consumed can of carling extra cold >:(

:oI wondered what you were going to say for a minute there ;D

However, not impressed.  Call to the police might have been in order.

passed loads of cop cars all morning but when i needed one i couldnt find one!

Hold on, you say it's an old man, driving an Astra, oop north on his way to the pub........sounds like STMO to me :)

Although if it had been a bottle of water he'd have been knicked at the first set of traffic lights   :-/

I agree that driving after ANY alcohol isn't good - and I also agree that on the balance of probabilities he is likely to be a drunk driver.

One thing I am learning though is not to be too fast to class people as doing something wrong - for example - if he was only drinking say, his first small can of very weak beer, and it was in a cup holder while the car was in motion, there's not a lot plod could do, apart form offer advice, if he blew under.

That said - my personal slant is the guy's an idiot  :-X

If he was too desperate to wait until he got to the pub it begs the question of why he's driving to the pub anyway. Still, he was either over the limit or not. If that were his first can maybe not - who knows? but it's still hardly clever.

Totally - agree - and as said, on the balance of probabilities - it aint gonna be good!

Problem is, penalties are too low - so people don't worry about the consequences!

Chance of getting caught is almost zero never mind the penalties.

True...
Saying that - they had a few from my local, the other day, according to what my mate told me!
