Last October one of my granddaughters decided she'd learn to drive[she's in her mid thirties]and after having her first lesson went out and bought a well battered MkIV Golf diesel to gain extra practice in. I got roped in to being co-pilot for these extra driving outings, not to try and teach her how to drive but just so she got extra practice. As it was we had many more of these than she did of official lessons with a proper instructor. In fact from last October until yesterday she had 15 hour long proper lessons and yesterday passed her test at the first time of asking. She of course is dead chuffed and I'm relieved as I no longer have to ride about in a god awful Golf!

Congratulations to her on passing her test. :y I taught both of my kids to drive from their 17th birthday, so they never paid a penny for official lessons. I was glad to do it and get them both through their tests. Contrary to some peoples opinions on my own driving style, I do still know what you are SUPPOSED to do. ;D

Well done on passing her test.
I just paid for lessons for my 2 .... less stressful & no arguments. Daughter passed her practical 1st time though she failed her theory 1st time. Lad passed his 1st time then got himself banned .... totting up for speeding, then got caught driving his mates mums car while banned, so now needs to take an extended test. That was a number of years ago now & he's never done anything towards getting his licence back. :-X

My daughter learned to drive on the drag strip, here first driving lesson got told to go easy on the gear shifts! Youngest road bikes for ages, now he is an HGV delivery driver for building supply. Showed them all how to drive "properly" after they passed their tests and they are all good drivers.

As long as you don't get roped in to repairing the damn thing. Unless you enjoy it of course. ;)

Had several Mk1V Golf's in the early 00's - several GTi Turbos (150 & 180bhp versions), couple of V5's, and I loved them! Pocket rockets really, and very reliable - arguably the best Golf of all the marques in my opinion :y Then I became more 'sensible' and got my first Omega... ;D

Had a 180 seat Toledo that surprised and upset numerous boy racers😂😂😂 I loved it

My mate had a Triumph Toledo, but you'd never have got 180 in it! ::)
The rocker cover was leaking oil and we found someone had made a gasket from tin foil. ;D
