Title: Heater Fan
Post by: Omega Nige on 24 July 2024, 07:55:47
Hi all, my fan is being a bit hit and miss. When I start sometimes it works and and then other times no fan at all, put it to full and nothing. If you put the cooling on low the fan should kick in but it doesn't! Any ideas?

Thanks, Nigel.

I would look at changing the heater fan motor resistor (commonly known as the 'hedgehog'),  which sits high up behind the passenger airbag above the glovebox.
Accessed from inside the car, and although its a bit of a fiddle, it's doable.
It's often caused by water ingress following a blocked scuttle drain.
GM part no is 90566802 I believe.

Pull out the pollen filter and you can reach the fan. Does it spin?
If yes check the fuse. If no, you need a new one and clean the drains out. If the fuse is OK then check the resistor and that it is recieving power when the fan is switched on.

Water will kill it quicker than mustard gas.
