Title: Urgent help request
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 29 July 2024, 17:23:27
Hi folks. I know it’s a bit cheeky and should really be in the parts section, but I’m in a bit of a bind and wondered if anyone please has a working front nearside brake caliper for a V6 available for sale?

I really need my Omega on the road and I have a totally stuck caliper.

Am very happy to collect and / or cover postage as well as the cost of the part :y

Are they the same as used on the f/l 3 litre? If so I've seen new ones listed on e-bay[about £107 each :o or there was recently[could still be listed]second hand ones from a breakers for about £28 each.A rebuild kit from I think Biggred is about £32 for the pair of fronts.

Yes same as 3.0.

I can’t see any anywhere on eBay. There’s a right one but not a left. I may message the seller and see if he has one.

There is also a left caliper from Germany at £133. Price is fine but takes too long to arrive

I'd definitely consider[in fact I am for my 3L]one of Biggreds rebuild kits. You get new pistons seals and grease and if previous experience is anything to go by delivery is within 2 days, depending on time of day ordered.

All Omegas, petrol and diesel, have same 296mm front brakes with the exception of pre 1998 2l, which had the 286mm brakes from the Senator.

James, sent you a WhatsApp (not a pm) about the availailabilty of a new (remanufactured) front left caliper availble from a company in Coventry at very sensible money (including P&P , less than half the Germany price you gave). I used their calipers previously on other cars and they have have been absolutely fine. Just another option for you if you are still stuck (no pun intended....) :y
