Title: The mighty Signum has been sold.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 17 February 2025, 18:55:50
Ten years I have owned this car and she has never let me down. :y

However, nearly £800 each year to tax her is simply too much for the miles she does. :-X

WBAC offered £1335......but the thieving bastards would only give me £943.01 once they saw it. ::)

Having said that, I only paid £2400 a whole decade ago, so perhaps not that bad in the great scheme of things.

If I put my astra into WBAC they offer me around £3000. But the thieving bastards will only offer me £12.50 if I turn up with it  ;D

Mrs Opti has been driving it mainly for the last couple of years but she wants it gone because it kills polar bears and little black children. >:D

So I suppose I have to replace it for her with something you plug in. :-\

The girl who looked it over kept saying " you don't see many of these and it's in really nice condition"

She then went on to knock more than 30% of the original offer because of XYZ...... ;D ;D

A signum set the bar quite low for rare and pointless, but surely we can do better.

How about a Perodua Kenari?

£1457 of depreciation in 10 years.

 Just £145.70 a year. :y

It's just a shame it cost so much to tax each year......when a belligerent old man from Liverpool only pays £30 a year to tax a planet-destroying derv Astra. ::)

Being a mere woman she obviously knows nothing of cars. >:D

Presented in a pretty colour any of those 3 could possibly fool her. ::)

Thing is though.....at some point I will be forced to drive it so it needs to be better than those 3 cripple carriages. :y

I've just looked this up and it's a good looking car available with almost 1000BHP for the unhinged. :y

Jimmy mentioned the BMW X6. Another good car but excessively ugly. :)

Besides, I'm poor and can't afford either. :-\

Actually, I had a 205 GTi but that was a " do up and flog" car. Doubled my money on it, but I wish I still had it. People pay silly money for them now.  ::)

Same here a 1987 Renault 5 Turbo went like stink , but SWMBO collected too many points with it, traded it for a Subaru Forester.

Never owned a Frenchie. I did hire one when the exhaust  blew on my first Mig. It was a 'shakin that ass' Megane. Reversed into a parking space near Cambridge and when i went to engage neutral it had jammed into reverse. ::)  The guy who i hired it from had to bring me another car over, a Focus, and drag the lump of French shit onto the back of his truck. Vowed never again. :D

The best curry i've ever had was made by a young Ugandan lady of Indian descent who had to flee the country to escape the Government of Idi Amin. She made this potato curry with various spices completely from scratch  and was sensational.

I get a load of froggie shitboxes delivered by my "favourite" useless hire company.  Last week is was a Shitroen A3 Aircross PTSD and a thousand other letters in its name.  It weighed the same as an Omega, and was powered by a 1.2 N/A engine.  And despite it being even slower than my old Battlebus, it still managed to understeer like a bastard.

What a crock ;D.

1300cc in what was basically a rusty biscuit tin. It was almost as tippy as a 2CV, so a hoot on roundabouts and twisty B roads!  ;D
