I am not happy !!!! Swmbo has stoved in the wing of the Omega. She hit the fence reversing into the drive. Not sure if it can be pulled out and filled, or whether it means a new wing.
What is involved in changing a wing (Facelift). I know it bolts on under the bonnet, but what else has to come off, and is there any welding.
I am not a happy bunny >:( >:( >:( >:(
TIA

Nuts and bolts and about half an hour.
You around tomorrow?
-
Yes, but I haven't got a wing yet... I'm in Brackley now :y
-
Might be pull out able too.
Basically bumper end released, sill end unclipped, headlight out and two bolts to the A pillar, another one (or two) Infront of the door and two behind the bumper. Plus what you can see.
Car on ramps and wheel off/arch liner out make it easier. But car needs to be level and on the wheels when refitting just to ensure correct gappage ;)
Heading up that way after lunch. Pm if you like a hand/some guidance for what goes where ;)
That's not code for anything nefarious btw ;D

Not sure if it will pull out...it looks creased to me

You might be surprised ;)

That explanation is very good, Al. Don't come out of your way to see it. I may just pop it round to a body place in Brackers to see what they say if it can be pulled. Not worried about having it painted, I was going to respray the wing anyway, as the lacquer is starting to peel.
Ill have to source a wing from somewhere, which will probably be the cheapest option. *Update*....My Grandson has just come round and said he will have it in his workshop and put a replacement wing on it. :y
-
It's not out of the way on the scheme of tomorrow, but sounds like you've got it in hand :y
-
Thanks for the offer anyway, Al, it was most appreciated. Evidently my grandson has a mate up north who has a wing I can have, no dents or rust, just need flatting and a respray :y :y Just a case of me keeping on at him to go and get it !! ;D
-
There might be one nearer you... ;)

Getting some quotes for a new wing, in case my grandson lets me down...one question....what's the difference between a prefacelift and Facelift front wing. ;) :y

As far as I know Tony they had different headlights, so the cutouts will be different, and I very much doubt that they are interchangable.
Have you looked on ebay, to see if there are any Omega's being broken? :)
-
Thanks Sir Tig....nothing on e-bay at the moment, but I have used a site online, and have half a dozen quotes ranging from £59 to £440, the latter is quoted as new inc vat and delivery. The first quote seemed a bit iffy on checking on them. Looking at one from a company called BCS Car Spares in Manchester, dearer but the company looks a bit better :y
To the uninitiated, an Omega is an Omega ??? ???

That's a bold statement Tony! ::)
The V6's were 'proper' Omega's and the 2.2's were for girls! ;D

On the front end, the headlights, bumper and bonnet are different. That's it.
And all of those items can be fitted to facelift or age a car as a mod.
The only unchangeable differences between pre and post facelift saloon shells are the rear quarters and boot lid, although with time and money these can be changed too.
Estate shells are the same from '94MY to end of production.

Thanks Al....appreciated. So all front wings are the same. Brilliant :y :y :y

I stand corrected. ;D
