Title: Scrap prices
Post by: tigers_gonads on 09 August 2025, 08:58:11
What are omegas going for at the moment ?

Charles Trent are offering £2.

Faceachebook or eBay... :-\

It's got to be £3-400. Obviously an MoT and fresh cambelt will make it more valuable. Alternatively remove the cats and sell the car as a non runner spares/repairs and weigh the cats in yourself.

If there's any interesting bits on it, then remove them and they'll probably sell readily enough in Norn Ireland.

🤔
Not looked at prices for ages.
The old girl has been sat covered up and pretty well sheltered for 3 years now.
Always wanted to bring her back to life tbh but just don’t have the time anymore and need to move it on before Christmas due to incoming larger caravan and possible replacement for the CRV.
Got a day off next Friday so myself and the lad are going to spend a day on her and see what’s what.
Shame because there is a hell of a lot of good parts on her and the engine was sweet as a nut.
Engine still turns over freely by hand

02 plate 3.2 mv6 estate
LPG converted
Manual conversion (R28 box by Serek)
3.9 diff ( too offset the weight difference of the lpg tank)
B4’s all around.
Eibach springs front / heavy duty rear ( due to extra weight of lpg tank)

As to scrap prices, I've no idea what you'd get for your Omega, but the best price I got for my Mondeo was £220 from www.removemycar.com, which was far better than other companies who offered in the region of £125.

Shop around though, as other companies might see more value in your Omega. Depends how much faffing around you want to do, or just get rid.  :)

How much work does it need to get it back on the road then?

Not sure
Never been welded but it must be close if I’m honest.
Bodywork and paintwork is scabby.
Cambelt / pulley / water pump is well within millage but has been on about 5 years.
Done by Daz (loo Knee)
Rear off side wheel bearing needs doing.
Know more next Friday when I spend a day on it.

Forgot to say front wishbones and rear suspension has been polybushed.

Yes he'd might get more with a no reserve listing on ebay. Although saying that, I did that with the Mondeo, it went to £155, the buyer didn't make contact and later cancelled via ebay.  ::)

Does anyone sell LPG anymore?  All the places round here where I used to fill mine up have stopped selling it.  :-\

I was thinking more along the lines of being manual etc, it would have a demand in NI. Might be worth dropping SamboNI a PM and see where it leads ;)

Trouble is if it’s £1
A litre it’s no cheaper than petrol to run on

I paid 129.9 a litre for 8 litres ( just short of 2 gallons) the other day. Hopefully enough to last until February or March.

Sadly the jack went through the chassis when I tried to jack it up so imho, unless somebody wants a welding project its now fubar  ;(

There is a hell of a lot of good parts on it but and some of them will be pretty rare nowadays so i'll ring around for scrap value and then go from there.
If somebody on here is interested, let me know.
Obviously I would love it to stay in the OOF community.

I just want to say a massive thanks to the lads on here past and present.
I joined when I was in a pretty bad place in life and the help and advise I got with my omega's and other stuff on here was incredible.
Some stuff you don't forget  :)

All the best

Steve 'Gonads'

Nope, my beloved silver bullet went then, but TBE was a daily for a lot longer.
