It failed it's annual test in '23 on high fast idle emmissions . I left it and then went back to it in March '24 and did the usual checks ,ran cat clean through ,new plugs /filters /oil / lambda etc...( all were fresh /new or almost anyway ) but it failed on exactly the same figures again with everything else perfect .
I just parked it up covered it over and left it in a corner of the garage .
Was moving it around last week and realised that even after 23 years I still enjoyed the car .
The years are passing all too quickly now so I figured I'd recommission the old thing and at least (try) and enjoy it for a while anyway .
I fitted new Bilstein B4's for the test in '23 and purchased a new certified 2.2 exhaust downpipe last year which I'm told overcomes the high Co reading due to the Lambda position being closer to the exhaust manifold and hence running hotter .
The timing belt has only done 815 miles since I replaced it four years ago but I'd never have peace of mind if I didn'y renew it and the water pump , its an hour and a half job on the x20xev anyway .
The cars done 28 K miles in 23 years with me and I've replaced the TB & WP 5 times . ::)
Clutch bite point is very high which is puzzling . I've bled the system twice but it's made no difference so that has to be done .
There's a great Opel / Vauxhall community local so it'd be great to get involved with them again , hence my wish to get it back on the road .
It's easy to forget how supremely comfortable these cars were /are . I have a new car and the seats are too firm and achingly painful after an hour .
Anyway , here it is in all it's glory .
Biased as I am I think they have aged well .

They're certainly timeless :y

Great looking cars & that's a lovely example 👍

Still miss mine and it's a shame that they didn't make a proper successor.

I miss my Senator more than my Omega .... ::) ::)

I miss my Senator more than my Omega .... ::) ::)
Always preferred the Granada to the Senator, especially the later MK3 saloon. That said the facelift Omega B.was the car the.Scorpio should have been.

The Ford designers must have been on magic mushrooms when they designed the Scorpio! ;D

Perhaps he was the same dude who designed the Fiat Multipla. :)

the granada mk1 /consul was a fine looking car .and still looks classy today .
the early senators 'A' still look good not as keen on the senator b as it seems to look its age like the mk3astras did !.
omega is timeless as DG says yes .but only in FL versions i think ?.

Of course, but you also only have two feet and your left one doesn't work >:D

I was really referring to looks of the original cars vs the facelift .... I liked the swage line across the front of the bonnet & the FL looked too much like an Astra G ::)
Left foot doesn't work? ??? That's the foot I use to brake with. :y :y :y

I find the pre facelift trims quite fussy and a bit dated compared to the timeless and more subtle look of the facelift tbh...
But horses for courses ;)
