Battery has gone flat in the key fob
When locking the car we check all doors, then lock (dead lock) the drivers door when checked all doors left locked.
Next time we go to the car drivers door is locked but all other doors are unlocked.
Is this a common problem when the remote battery is flat?
Also when unlocking the drivers door the hazard lights start to flash.

others may be along to give a more presise answwer but to me it sounds like there may be an issue with the drivers door solenoid (causing the unlocking)and maybee the alarm horn is faulty .the one next to where the powersounder lived (the hazards suggest the alarm is goin off but no noise)

best just stick a new battery in the fob and see how if behaves !

No issues with alarm/horn but being a CD level spec not sure if there is one fitted

cd spec will still have alarm fitted and unlocking the drivers door with key can trigger it hence hazards but horn should still sound (the alarm horn up in the corner of the scuttle )

The button on the door doesn't always pop up if you use the key.
Does the driver's door open from the outside once unlocked with the key?
Can you open the door from the inside? If not, getting the door open is going to be a total pita. It is doable and once open you'll need to remove the door latch mechanism, clean and lubricate it thoroughly. That will buy you some time, but I would start looking for a better condition latch.
That the central locking otherwise works suggests that the solenoid is fine as it serves as the trigger for the other doors.

Drivers door lock works fine - just the other 3 are locked when we leave it but unlocked when we return (drivers door still dead locked0 and 4 out of 5 times hazards come on when we unlock

Dead locking is what sets the alarm. It only silences when you turn the ignition on. It's how the car decides if it's actually being stolen or not.
Your description makes no sense.
Do you manually lock the other doors before locking the driver's one? Or do you simply not check them before walking away assuming that it's all locked ???

Doors are manually locked locked 1st before the drivers door is and all 4 checked visualy before leaning the car. :y

Before you do the following,.Triple check you have the key in your pocket.
Switch car off and get out.
Close all the doors EXCEPT driver side rear.
Once the other doors are closed, push down the drivers lock button.
Push down the driver side rear button and close.
Manually check the outside handles and walk away
The car should then be adequately locked.
It makes no sense for the other doors to suddenly unlock themselves when they were previously locked.
Normally when the solenoids fail the locks will bounce.
Also replace the battery in the key and re sync the remote... Ignition in pos 2 engine off and all doors closed. Press and hold the lock button on the key. Locks should cycle. If that doesn't happen,.report back.
