Just found these - scanning through old slide transfers...
My 1967 Victor 101 FC. A little surface rust as you can see! Roof and boot were quite clean - the rest was very flat.
Ford Transit carburettor, dynamo changed to an alternator.
The rest of it was mostly stock - shame I had nowhere to store it at the time it to sort it out.
It went to a demolition derby 'race' for £30.

A biggish car back in the day. Sadly, like most other cars of that era, they succumbed to rust earlier than they should have done. I recall the aerial on my Cortina falling through the wing. ;D Wheel Arch liners weren’t a thing back then so all of the water and dirt got trapped in the corners.

Yep.
Although by the standards of 2026 it is positively small.
I had an uncle who owned a 1965 C reg 101, and it always seemed large.
Be it cars or people there are far more 'fat bastards' around today when compared to the swinging sixties.

I’m not overly familiar with older Vauxhall’s, but I do recall that my first boss, when I was an apprentice, had a Vauxhall Ventora 3.3, which I believe was linked to the Victor in some way.

I never thought of it as being 'big'. Maybe I should have, but I did get all my tools in it - had to, with that age of a machine - you never knew when you'd need a pair of tights for a fanbelt - and yes, I have done that...
Mum & Dad used to take my sister and I on holiday - in a mini. With a roof rack on! Now, THAT was cosy.
I also had an uncle - Manager at a Martin's Bank - he had a VX 4/90 Dead jealous. Mind you, his was new, my 101 was well old when I got it.

My first car was a 1964 Vauxhall Velox PB hydramatic 3.3 litre bought it as soon as I passed my test in 1971, cost me £130 and then £250 to insure it , saw one locally a few weeks ago in really nice condition but even they look small now and the wheels looked so narrow kept it for three years nice vehicle.

Ah, yes, the Ventura. 3.3 litre engine out of a truck and front bench seat. My brother bought one for £50 and painted it like a Starsky and Hutch. When you went round a bend it was very hard to stay on the drivers side of the car.

Ever since my childhood I have just loved the best looking Vauxhall ever: the 1960 Cresta PB in it's two tone colours and American styling :-* :-* :-* :-*
The second favourite Vauxhall was the 1960 Victor with again the great American styling, but for me in red. That is because it was the first Vauxhall car I rode in, the first and second cars before being an Austin A30 and a Standard 8 (in red). What lovely cars they were to at least look at! ;D ;D 8) 8) Although as a very young passenger I found them just wonderful :D ;)

We had a few mini’s, some old shape and some of the newer shape. In the older shape, I had a Mini Cooper S, a 1275GT, an 850 and a Clubman Traveller. I was given the Traveller as the clutch was knackered. I was also given a 1300GT engine so I nicked the clutch off that to fix the Traveller. The Traveller was a right shed so it became the sacrificial thrash-mobile that you could take anywhere. It smoked when you coasted as the valve stem rubbers were riding up and down on the stems, instead of staying put. ;D
The 850 had wolfrace wheels with flared arches, two up/two down Cibie Super Oscar’s, a Peco big bore twin exit exhaust system and Wood and Picket nudge bars. I didn’t do that to it, I bought it like that. :) It was funny just how many other lads wanted to race it, not realising that it was just a bog standard 850 that would do around 75mph flat out downhill. ;D
The biggest mistake I made was selling the 1300GT engine, which was a longer stroke version of my 1275GT. The lad that bought it lived just around the corner from us, and when he’d fitted the engine he came and thanked me. He said that it was the best £25 he’d spent on it, as he now had one of the fastest minis in the area. I couldn’t believe that I’d been upgrading the 1275GT and the Cooper S for extra speed, when the best engine had been sat on my garage floor for over two years. ::) ;D
