Title: Car ramps
Post by: Terbs on 19 March 2026, 10:50:15
Hi all, I am looking to buy a set of ramps with the hydraulic lift incorporated. You drive on, then Jack up to the full height. I am looking at a set that are rated two ton. Are these safe for an omega. Obviously, it’s only the back or the front being lifted, so surely two ton would be ok. The four ton ones are about fifty quid more. Anybody got these , are they ok
thanks……

That you asked the question buy the 4 ton ones. That said...

Chrisgixer has a set, not sure on brand or rating, but if you have his details, be worth a chat with him first ;)

I believe Ken (Mutha Jugs) has a set as well, although Chris is obviously closer to you.  :y

I need ramps because I can’t get down at my age to position my trolley Jack. I have a set of standard ramps, but, once I get down, the rotund construction of my body stops me from getting very far under the vehicle. If I need a wheel off, because the vehicle is now higher, using my kneeler, I can position the Jack to get higher and put in axle stands. I feel this new type of ramp will do all that for me, and also allow me to slither under further.😀

Also…………..I haven’t got any bricks ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good vid, Opti. I did look at some like that but substantially dearer. After some thought as to whether I would get the use of them, taking a number of factors into account, versus the price, I, or should I say swmbo, decided that the ramps at £150 would be better value. 👍🏻😀

Are the £150’ish ramps the type that you drive on to and then jack up Tony?  The front bumper of my car is so low that I can’t drive up ramps so I have to put a trolley jack under both sides and then push the ramps under the wheels.  ::)  I tried using the run up ramps that came with them to lower the run up but it bent the ramps on the rung it fits to.  ;D
To be honest, I find going up ramps unnerving. I worry if one of them might skid forward, or I might fly off the end of them or fly off the side of them.  ;D

If it's any comfort, the chances of all three things happening at once is pretty reasonable slim >:D

My really old set of ramps collapsed as I reversed up them. That didn’t do my nerves any good.  ;D
