for about a year and half now ive been using my pocket pc as my satnav and thats all i used it for bit of a waste really
i loaded it with tomtom software with all the speed cam locations and those silly voices like ozzy osbourne and knight rider etc
i'm just in 2 minds at the moment on either to sell the pocket pc and get a sat nav that is just a sat nav or to keep using the pocket pc
any ideas anybody

Well the Carin Sat nav does me for getting to major locations, My Tracker Sat Nav service is great for odd places (You ask an operator to find some thing and send you the route)
Though I used to use the Pocket PC for sat in other motors I also have a Garmin unit that kicks the hell out of the lot, it gives spoken road names, even the odd welsh ones, and has live traffic data as well...
if only I could get a factory fit look...

I used to use an ipaq handheld with TomTom loaded -- worked OK -- waste of a PDA. Found it to be a bit slow ( especially
bombing driving briskly along country lanes).
In the end I changed to a dedicated TomTom 910 ---- much faster tracking, keeps up with me as I swing around corners ( and the remote is far easier to use than leaning across and tapping the screen).
Oh -- and I don't know if you have the same problem -- but leave the ipaq unused for a few days and you have to re-load TomTom software as the internal battery is as much use as a chocolate teapot!

ive left mine for a few weeks and not lost anything as my tom tom is loaded onto the sd card which is quite handy as i just stick the sd card into my laptop and download updates or new tom tom software as it comes out

Tried that on the ipaq and it wouldn't auto load :-[ Still -- academic now

I used to use my MDA Vario Pocket PC as a Sat Nav, found it slow, erroneous and difficult to use (crashed a lot while on the move, defeating the object)
Got a TomTom One Europe now and its brill, currently have Austin Powers giving me directions .....
