For those that dont know Whitehouse bridge is a railway bridge in Swindon....and if im correct holds the title of the most often hit bridge in the UK.
It has sensors monitoring vehicle height, if a vehicle too tall goes past the sensors, signs light up and flash.......to warn of impending doom if you carry on.
Well it got hit again this afternoon ;D
Bridge was closed for about 40mins, so traffic in Swindon got bad in the area :(
This time by a large sheet of glass attached to the side of van......bye bye (apparently worth according to local radio station) 4000Euros of glass ;D ;D
The bridge was closed for 40mins so the council workers could sweep up the shattered glass :D

Yes I once knew it well!! Not hit yet again!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
Double decker buses I remember were often the culprits.
As for the traffic that was always bad anyway!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

I reckon anyone who hits that bridge should have their licence revoked .... they must be friggin blind !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just glad I wasn't in town today !!

Thinking more about my days around Swindon I have remembered in fairness to that town that traffic was bad at times, but no where near as bad as the Bristol congestion I had to regularly battle through on the A38 / M5 / M4 / M32, generally all over the City Centre and Clifton!! :'( :'( :'( :'( Hours / days / weeks wasted! >:( >:( >:(
None of their low bridges were hit like that one in Swindon though! ::) ::)

I can quite understand that, as I don't envy your job at all, although for decades I travelled across the country on business......or perhaps that's why I really don't envy your job!!! ::) ::) :D :D ;)
