Title: Dartford Crossing Toll to rise
Post by: Lazydocker on 22 September 2008, 21:27:38
Dartford toll set to rise from 10pm November 15th 2008

Clicky (http://www.dart-tag.co.uk/nossl/index.php?page=new_charges)

This is taken from the Dart tag Pages because that's the only evidence I can find but it is true... Makes the saving from a Tag even greater though :y :y

They also appear to be doing away with the extra charge for trailers too.

To be fair, and to play Devil's Advocate, the price of the Dartford crossing has been £1 for as long as I can remember, so although it's a 50% increase now, it probably doesn't work out so bad over the years!

It's got nothing to do with this country... It's owned by the French ::) ::)

Anyway... The simple answer is to do as I have done and get a Tag... Then you don't pay any more than now :y :y :y

Doesn't affect me, infact i'll be getting my crossings FREE

Well for a while, as from 15th Novemeber, Thurrock residents get 50 free crossings then it goes to 20p a time, all i need is a Dart Tag with £10 credit, which funnily enough i already have  :)

I worked out that I do enough crossings to justify paying in advance anyway... I think this year so far I have been across Dartford somewhere in the region of 30 times with all the travelling and visiting we do ::)

Think yourselves lucky, the Humber bridge is going up to, I think,
£2.90 soon, makes your eyes water.

Silly story:

Last week, the youngest son set off on his first major car journey - Suffolk to Bristol.  Got to the M25, Northern anticlockwise closed by police.  Went South, got to the bridge, discovered he had precisely 75 pence in cash on him and they wouldn't take a card.

He's got a bit to learn about motoring, methinks... :)

the Scottish National Party abolished bridge tolls in Scotland when they got in  :y

Skye Bridge toll was something like £5 or £6 quid per trip - over  a tenner a day if you commuted over it!!!!

Bloody typical of this poxy country more rise in costs , we run 20 trucks in the firm i work for and we go sometimes 6 time a day through tunnel , Ok we do go through before 6 am and so does half of the continetal truck traffic , it can take up to 15 minutes to get through as they only run 3-4 toll booths at night , when they're all trying to find there 1 pound coins to pay it gets beyond a joke sometimes> When is this Bloody goverment gonna start charging tolls for them to run over here , every where else it costs £ 6-8 a day in belguim and Holland ,germany you pay by the km, which to transist costs between £80 -100 but us mugs dont charge a sausage . Like someone said earleir just bend down drop your pants and take it up the 'arris , when will they stop taxing hell out off us , there trying to squeeze the last drop from us and there aint much left to squeeze. RANT OVER normal service will return ,well till the next time  :) :)

As a Southern truck driver living (happily) up North for the last few years the UK is still a small place to me as i'm all over it. I use the Dartford crossing/tunnel & it's cheap even given the price increase. To take an artic over the Humber Bridge, which is nothing to write home about, just a bridge costs £18.30p each way.
Must be one of the few things that cost more up here than down there. ::)

I am intrigued Jereboam, what happened next? :o :o :o

I have always wondered what they do if you really cannot pay them in any normal recognised way!   Do they send you back in the opposite direction? :-/ :-/ :-/

Yes lizzie they do,  they have their own police force there and they escort you over a bridge to the other side and send you on your way,
I know this as I used to live 2 miles from it & knew one of the tunnel police officers.
