Postcard!! You want a postcard??!! Waste of money, takes too long to be delivered, and the e-mail system works too well PLUS I am too tight to spend that kind of money; my life, what kind of Jewish family (the Wiseman's / Freeman's) girl do you think I am?! :o :o :o

Thanks Cem, I don't know if they are the ones. Aparently Turkish State Railways have five dumped on a scrapyard (no-one in the UK is allowed to say where apparently due to blowing the deal) and at least three (not for the first time) are going to be bought for restoration in the UK. ;)

Is a certain dog breeder involved as the one I am thinking of was interested a few years ago.

The information I have Martin is that a Mr. Mike Hoskin, Chairman of the Churchill 8F Company, which own the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway based Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 45160, is in negotiations with Turkish State Railways for four (not three as I stated earlier :-[) 8F's out of six surviors currently still 'dumped'. ;)

I know the group, not sure if my hinted person is involved or not, but I am involved with the GWR. Well I have done 6 DVDs of them.

Yes, 'Coffee Pot' Bullied Q1 0-6-0 C1 / 33001 is the only preserved example and to be found on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex, as pictured below:
I witnessed my last sighting of one of these, 33008, in BR ownership at Haslemere in 1964. :D ;)

Wasn't referring to the trains... That info comes in handy when I'm with the Father in Law!
I just meant that LZ's knowledge is far and wide. She's willing to share it with us all, which is great, but for some of us it's just that... Fascinating but useless :y :y :y
Note to self: Read what you've typed in case someone takes it the wrong way. This was actually meant to be a complimentary post!

Absolutely right Bill, but they were a great Bullied design for the war (WWII) effort, with so much steel saved by dramatically trimming the cosmetic finish of these powerful frieght loco's, coming in at 54 tons 18 cwt, with the tender at just 16 tons, that each one came in some 14 tons lighter than 'standard' designs of frieght engine's. :y :y :y
Thus resulted a tremendous overall saving of 560 tons of steel over the class of 40 engines, at a time (1942) when Britain was desparate for every ton of metal it could lay its hands on!* 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
*Some members may remember those days, but just for once I am NOT old enough to do so!! ;D ;)

In a previous life, I often used to wonder if it was actually worth having a holiday, given what you had to sort out on your return. :(
