He backed off, let Kimi go into the next corner.
Kimi crashed all on his own.
Its seams to be they are doing this either cause.
A) he is english
B) he is black
We all know what Max Mosley gets up to!
Massa cuts someone up in the pit lane, nothing, but hamilton? nooooo slap 25 secs on him...
Bunch of n00bs...
-
Sounds like it might be racist to me :-?
-
I would add a 'C' baised to the colour red!!
Also Would wonder what changed hands.
As for the other one I wouldn't trust him as far as I could spit into a force 10 gale.

I think BE's love of Italian teams is the reason why that decision was never going to be overturned. And whatever the FIA may say, BE still has the biggest influence...
-
If you read the justifications they seem to have used every inch of wiggle room. "This was appealed before? Oh well no one brought up the issue of if this can be appealed or not at the time so even though it has been appealed before it really can't be." Tosspots!
At least they're not immune from the credit crunch. Lehman owned almost 17% of F1's holding company. Someone's gotta come up with some dosh to keep that out of general circulation. ::)

Yes TB and let's face it F1 is all big money and politics, nothing more, nothing less!! >:( >:( >:( >:(
The "sport" factor was killed off some time ago from what I can see as a non-F1 fan. ::) ::) ::) ;)
-
besides, I secretly hope hamilton doesn't win the championship, simply because the country has gone Hamilton crazy.
Its revived a boring sport that should be allowed to die. I saw a race a few weeks ago, one of the commentators commented how it was really exciting and the best in ages. I fell asleep.

That is really sad if that is the case!! :( :( :( :(
The commercialism and politics is spoiling all our "sports", just like football at the highest levels really. It is all about money and politics as I stated about F1. >:( Sad! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Come on Jaime, what's wrong with having an English sportsman that is actually very skilled, exciting and exceptionally good at what he does? We don't have much to crow about when it comes to sports in the UK so let's not knock it! :o As many of you know, I'm a great motorsport enthusiast and there hasn't been an Englishman this good in F1 since Nigel Manell. At least Hamilton is trying to race and put on a good show, it's just a shame that the governing body of F1 lets it down. :(

Not the jolly old cross of St George old chep.......... ;)

Ooops, sorry Broocie.....no slur intended, you're quite right. :y

just to play devil's advocate here.....what would have happened if LH tried the same move at Monaco where theres no run off area? He would either have to have backed right off or ploughed into a barrier - so the fact is he did gain an advantage - yes he let KR through, but he was inches from his gearbox and wouldn't have been anywhere near as close if he'd taken the chicane properly - so I can see where he gained an advantage.
and you can never appeal a stop/go penalty - thats always been the case - and this was a 10 sec stop/go pen (as it was inside the last 3 laps he was given an equivalent time penalty instead ie 25secs)
i've watched F1 for over 20yrs and to me it looked a bit cheeky at the time - if i'm honest i didn't think they would penalize him - but i'm not surprised they did

Until recently this agency did a lot of work for
FERRARI. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Hamilton did what every motorsport competitor has done for decades -if you gain an advantage by cutting a corner you let the other bloke past and then come back at him as soon as possible.I have seen it done at the chicane just after the tunnel at Monaco many times.

OK - at any other corner at Monaco tho - he couldn't have pulled this off - I can see that he gained an advantage - I'm not so sure it deserved to be penalised tho :o
-
i dont think you can say lewis did not gain an advantage by cutting the chicane. But the understanding of the rules at the time was you have to let the guy back through, which he did, nobody said anything about not gaining an advantage, just let him back in front.
Now the letter of the law is another thing, but that letter of the law has certainly not been evenly applied. As numerous other similar incidents have gone unpunished. I wouldnt worry to much about it, Lewis will still kick their arse!

The thing the FIA seems to be missing is that for motor sport to be entertaining the winner has to be decided by crossing the chequered flag first, not by debate in a courtroom.
OK, if someone is found to be cheating they need to be penalised but in the Schumacher days he used every dodgy driving trick in the book to win, or at least gain advantage, and if it looked like he wasn't going to win he'd do his damnedest to take out the next guy with whatever momentum was left in his car before hitting the barrier. >:(
If he crossed the chequered flag first people would debate whether it was deserved or not, but it was accepted. In fact, that debate itself perhaps made the sport more interesting.
I'm sure in their own minds the FIA are only trying to make things "fair", even if their "fair" is biased but the point is, motor racing is about crossing the line first, and as soon as crossing the line first doesn't necessarily mean a win, the whole sport is not worth a second glance, IMHO.
The FIA should ensure that everyone crosses the start line with a legal car, and that, except in the most exceptional circumstances, the first guy to see the chequered flag wins, with no meddling after the event. Then perhaps I'll start watching it again.
If they don't like people cutting the chicanes I'm sure a few carefully placed tyre walls would resolve the situation without ripping the soul out of the sport. ;)

I agree Kevin - I also think that EVERY race should be wet - they're always better ;)
Hamiltons a great driver - and with a cooler head would have won the WDC last year - FIA remember would hate McLaren to win - and who do you think tipped off the papers about Max? (once you've been fined £50m a 20p phone call isnt going to hurt ;D)
Hamilton's now left in the position of being in a car capable of winning him the WDC, and also now with all the shenangins over this incident and accusarions of Ferrari bias, the FIA will have to bend over backwards to appear to be fair - so it may well work in Hammy's favour.

Explain to me what advantage he gained over Massa and what did Massa do to deserve the points?
-

He was in front of Massa and Massa was in a Ferrari - hence the annoyance at the coloured chap in a non Ferrari.

it was a stop/go penalty - the penalty is against Hamilton, it's the same if that had happened halfway through the race, LH would have had to serve an actual stop/go - losing around 25secs in the process - Massa was in the right place at the right time - ie 2nd at the end of the race!!
i don't think LH should have been penalised - but if FIA deem it a penalty then technically they're correct in applying the 25secs - so whoever benefits, benifits, the fact that Kimi spun out later is immaterial, as is who was behind LH when the race ended - Massa was lucky, Hamilton and Raikkonen were unlucky
