No it wasn't sold as an original ... i was looking for the original type of bootlip spoiler but liked the look of this one ...it does fit beautifully though ....just wish i was brave enough to drill the holes for the bolts myself and spray it myself ::)

if you ever pop by Crewe I know a fantastic guy who works out of his garage and will do it for 20 quid max. Did dads Jag bonnet (the same surface area of many small cars) and my dad had to force him to take 80 quid for a truely pro job that took 3 attempts to get right... you cant buy that kind of commitment :y

Mmmm just a pity im so far away :'(

No ,No, No.....too expensive . Get a second and third quote .
I'd say £80ish to paint and £25 to fit ,after all its only three holes.
If you make a reverse template of the curve of the mounts of the spoiler on cardboard from a cereal packet and place them on the bootlid where they match the curveture it'll give you the datum. Then measure the pitch of the holes ,find the centre line of the boot and then mark out from there you can't go wrong.
Oh , and ask to pay cash ......No vat thanks .

To be honest mate with something like that I would grab the right colour cans from VX (cheap as chips) and do it yourself. I got 2 tins of bsae coat and laquer for I believe under a tenner, and there are loads of tin spray guides around. In fact I'm looking at a detailed one right now in September Practical Classics using tins. They just repaired a Modern Merc with wet an dry and some spray tins and the results are pretty good. Go grab a copy for 3.99 and save yourself a packet!

I might just have to go and get that magazine :y

Before my partner got her Elite Estate she smashed rear valance on her Mondeo Estate. I got a good one off a scrapper and sprayed it first in primer and then in colour (white) using cans (1 x primer, 2 x colour).
Once tailgate and back wings compounded, T-cut and polished to match you wouldn't know the difference.
Cans cheap & ideal for doing smaller parts.

If you do decide to have a go at painting by aerosol find a local auto paint supplier that will mix up paint in an aerosol tin. This is common and bodyshops use them as it is perfect for touching in small repairs without going to the trouble of mixing themselves.I used a company in Hertrfordshire that did when I lived there and the match was perfect .They swatched the car and selected the correct paint from three variations of the code. A 400 ml can was about £12 if I remember correctly .I have painted the front N/S bumper with it and the four doors below the rubbing strip .I also used U-Pol uv resistent lacquer which they reccomended after another brand yellowed after application. I defy anyone to tell it has been done by aerosol.
The secret is in polishing the lacquer with 2000 grit paper ,then compounding the surface and then applying a good few layers of wax polish.I painted these areas 4 years ago and they are still perfect.
I would have painted the rear spoiler I fitted but I cannot find a good paint retailer down here in this wilderness that will supply in aerosol format and the suppliers in UK will not airfreight pressurised containers.
If I can help PM me with your tel. no. and I'll talk you through it I get free calls evenings and weekends to UK
PS don't worry you'll understand me I'm from Lanarkshire.

I will keep your offer in mind ... thank you very much :y ...... on return to work today my whinging about it has brought to my attention a workmate has a friend who's son works in a body shop so he will enquire if he is interested in a wee homer ...... never underestimate the power of a good whinge..... ;D

i had a quote this morning from local auto paint place, on 1L of base coat, paint mixed while i wait, all the lacquer and thinners to go with it, 50 quid. thats for my cav to do bodykit etc. i was expecting it to be a lot more tbh... obviously to use with a proper sprayer...
then again maybe i dont need that much:
2 bumpers, side skirts, 2 boot spoilers(!), door panels all round, grille, etc etc...
any ideas?
-
I wouldnt have any idea how much i need for a little spoiler never mind what you need :-/

Not gold plated is it?

I think it must be ...... i had offers from people doing homers for £80 etc but they never got back to me or were to busy .... i was going to try myself but i know i would make a mess of it :D.... im fed up with it lying in the boot , just want it done now :y
-
i would of said that was steep, im getting a bonnet & wing done for £50 & pushing him to do 2 sideskirts as well as the paint will already be in the gun, got to prepare myself though but luckily ive only had to feather out a few chips & keyed up the rest. :y

:( :( :(.... :'( Well have you ever had the feeling somethings are not ment to be ? .... took the spoiler in on monday and was supposed to be fitted today ..... so when i went round this morning to drop off the car he said they sprayed spoiler yesterday but it had reacted with what ever had been on it before :-/..... they showed me it and it looked like alligator skin :o.... so it was being sanded down again and some isolator coat was going to have to be put on it first ..... wont be ready till friday now :(
