Title: Today's the day!
Post by: hotel21 on 12 December 2006, 11:22:42
Well, thats it.....

My DVLA enforced passenger status is now over and I can get to drive my own car again!!  Don't get me wrong, its been OK to be chauffeured about but it is annoying to see your pride and joy driven in a way you would't do yourself.

To me, brake pads are cheaper than gearboxes so I tend to allow the car to slow gracefully when approaching a hazard then gently applying the brakes and gently easing them off again, to avoid the 'rocking horse' style of driving.

The track of the car allows you to straddle speed humps and gently rise over and down the other side.

My wife, however, does not.  She hammers up to junctions relying on the power of the brakes, keeps the brakes on when hitting (and I mean HITTING ) speed humps with one side of the car or the other, then off brakes, using them like a lightswitch.  And using the gearbox like an alternate braking system.

I know the suspension arms are due for replacement (bought them the week before I had my attack) but they really need doing now!

[/moaning phase]   ;D

Well, I sold my last car (Citroen Xsara 1.9TD Estate) to my ex-missus and it was spotless apart from a couple of scratches where it had been keyed. It now has a badly creased dent on offside rear, nearside rear door and rear panel dented and badly scratched and both front alloys badly kerbed!!  :-? So glad she's got her own insurance.  ::)

**Edited** Thanks for correcting me Greg :y

Do you think DSA should include spatial awareness training for women drivers? Seriously, they aint got a clue how big their car is.

I just lol'ed when I saw mum did that to the Xsara (not Xantia)

If only we knew then what we know now :o I think we should all be allowed to rent a wife first and then have the option to buy if we like it ::)( he says looking for the gaffer over his shoulder :D)
