Title: Computer Help
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 01 October 2008, 17:44:33

Does anyone know of a program or a way that I can syncronise a main computer with 1 central folder with the same named folder that is added to a network.

Say I set My Documents on computer 001  and then have 4 laptops that hook up to it dailly that upload/download till all files are duplicated.

TIA  :y

just nominate a PC & folder, and create a mapped drive to that folder from the other machines?

yep..

easy approach is to define same username with same password with admin rights in all pc and laptops..

for xp related subject heading "How to configure file sharing in windows XP"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040

for vista
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

and if you still have problems play with firewall settings to see this effect or not..

also you can search the other pc s with their IP

from the command line ipconfig -all will show ip numbers.. :y

ps  or from the explorer adress line write the ipnumber\c$

There is another way and that's Offline Files.
Clicky (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307853)

I don't fully understand it but I think it will do the job for you and works seamlessly.

You could also try a comercial option - i use something called easy2sync and easy2sync4outlook - they are great and have never let me down.

I sync about 3 PC's, a server, 2 laptops and a NAS type drive

Cheers
