There is often a question on here for a recomendation for a budget priced tyre... I quite like the EP Tyres Accelera Alpha Series.. very good grip in the wet and better than average braking distance, very comparable to Pirelli's P6000's.... and, £53 each'ish...

Can't comment on the makes, but I just bought a set of Dunlops from blackcircles.co.uk, price and service were good....

Can't comment on the Tyre yet as they are not on the car yet but I just ordered some Toyo Proxes T1-R 235/45 R17 Y at £77.75 a corner from blackcircles.com Supposed to be quite good!! :y

WOW thats not bad - my last P6000's were over a £100 each - what sort of tyre ware did you get? How many miles?

I love the Dunlop SP9000 on MV6. Quite like SC2s as well.
Tractor runs on Nexen CP6 something. Quite a good budget tyre, but lacks rear end traction in very wet conditions (tractors power delivery isn't ideal for such conditions either)

i've got nexens - they look great and they're cheap - you're right - the back end is a bit lairy in the wet :o :y

Try it in the pissing heavy rain, going around a roundabout in a hurry right outside a petrol station down the A43. The driver's face on the inside lane was a picture as I slotted my rear end between him and the car behind him. My smalls nearly got a load, as it was more luck than judgement I didn't hit one of them.
Of course, the next roundabout - the one I believe Tunnie managed a 720 on, the tail wagging was planned ::)

Goodyear Eagle f1's. They don't tramline & hang on like merry break but look on ebay for good prices as your local tyre centre can charge £180 a corner. You can halve that if you do your homework.
On MV6 rims (which can be iffy) no wobbles from 0-60 or maybe 70+. ::) To put it another way, they're too good for wheel spinning, that would be wrong.
I don't wheelspin anymore. If that's not a recommendation i don't know what is!!!!!! 8-)

As said, in the MV6, The SP9000s are the best I have found. Stunning grip, wet or dry, reasonable price (around £100), very little tramline (does increase when they are worn), but small bit of roadnoise.
My next favourites are Cont SC2.
Tractor gets top end of budget tyres, seeing as it is a cheap plaything...

If you drive the 3.0 hard and you have lots of standing water in the bends, not sure the cheap Nexens are for you ;D
I will try them on the MV6 one day, for a giggle ;D
Still, even they are miles better than those plastic goodyears that tunnie uses - not suitable for a wheelbarrow.

Of course, after the muppets spent most of the summer digging up the A31 to improve drainage I never see standing water. Oh, no. Could have done with a periscope yesterday. >:(

Seem to work well in the wet and dry. Not the quietest tyres in the world and wear seems to be reasonable on the fronts.

I don't "play" in the wet except for a favourite r'about that i like to go round & round with TC off 'til I'm steering on the throttle on surprisingly low revs.
My dilemma is do i behave in the dry to save expensive tyres which give me incredible grip should i want to teach some little toerag a lesson in a big (proper) car, or should i use a harder compound less grippy but longer wearing job?
I reckon the pricey soft compound grippies are worth a bit extra.
Big car+ big driver = big grip!!!!!!! 8-) Basic equasion. :D

I'm running Dunlop Sport 9090's all round on mine now and agree with TB regarding the levels of grip but would also agree with you that there is an increase in tyre noise over other brands.
Thing is, most of the noise is down to a sh1te road surface. I only notice the tyres when I'm on one of the rare decent bits of road round here.
And, actually, after putting them on the back, it's quieter than the SP2000Es I had on there before. It was very quiet on the Pilot Primacys that were on before, but they're a bit steep, and used to tramline, although the suspension setup wasn't great then.

I loved the now obsolete Conti SC2's on the MV6
Replaced em with the Sport contact 3's, and I'm sorry to say am a bit disapointed, great in the dry, but a lot easier to get the back out in the wet, think they've spoit a great tyre :'(
Pity cos I've got 8 of em!

Apart from my camber being out somewhat, the wear on the flat centre of the tread is very little indeed, I'd say 25k > on them, driving hard sometimes too :y

Toyo TR1's are good but have been known to wear quickly :(
