Title: South of France
Post by: Elite Pete on 07 October 2008, 15:11:04
Wifey booked a spell away in the Carcassone, South of France. It was a bit last minute and I wasn't keen to go but when the boss says jump, I ask how high ::) Anyway when we got there we hired a little Polo Diesel (70 BHP) which was brand new but I soon ran it in on road like this (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h64/pickledpepper/DSCF0079-1.jpg)

Poor car, ;D but it went quite well. Took a trip over to Andorra where diesel was only 80 euros a litre. Its the first time ive been to the South of France and I really liked it, but I bet its hot in the summer, I think I will stick to the North ;)

Looks like one of those roads where you can never have too much power. :D

A bit more power would have been nice, it would have been even better without the wife in the passenger seat ;D

Tell me about it. Could have done without the passenger seat mounted rev limiter when I went here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stelvio_Pass. Apparently I'm going on my own next time. Going to be a long walk for her...  ;D

They're quite handy when you're driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. If they go white when you pull out to overtake, then you don't have enough room/time! ::)  :y

We go down there in July, but a little further along near Nice and Monte Carlo...

It is warm in the summer, but when you find roads like that you know it is worthwhile  :y

Spent hours and hours at 8 to 9/10ths in a little Pug rental in the Pyrenees a couple of years ago.  Great fun!  :y

That road looks like the roads on Corsica except it is twice the width and I can't see any cows on the road!  ;D

Discovered that on the poxy Toyota Corolla we had in South Africa. The accelerator pedal was so weakly sprung that I inadvertently rested my foot on it while getting into the car. Turned the key and weeeeiingg ning ning ning ning ning ning. :-[

Hardly the best way to start a cold engine.
