Title: Aero blades??
Post by: Bandit127 on 05 October 2008, 19:16:19
I bought a new set of regular Bosch blades today, but they had the new Aero Blades on display.

Has anyone got them? Are they any better than the normal ones?

I've been using these Aero Twin flat blades for about 10 months and wouldn't go back to "normal" wipers. Superb smear free performance and very quiet. :y

A sure sign your previous blades were well knackered.  Normal blades are also quiet and effective, until worn out.

Actually, normal blades on Omegas are generally slightly better, due to complex shape of screen.

So, if you are after good value, good performance and quiet running, get Vx blades at TC (£9 ish), and change annually.  Obviously, if its a style thing, then the choice is yours.

I have some on one of the Omegas

I have to say that I am not that impressed as they dont touch the full screen as well as the standard ones and are slightly noisier.

A classic form over function job in my books!

There's only a very tiny area on the passengers side when the wipers are at rest that they dont touch the windscreen properly and does nothing to impair the driver's vision. Having used conventional wipers for more years than I care to remember, I still maintain they perform better overall. Different experiences for different people I guess. :-/

From what I have read , either the advertisements are successful or our curiosity  ;D

too many tried them ;D

talking for other cars the wipers are far better than the standard wipers..On Omega depends on the owner..

:-X I think one of ours (2001) is still on original wipers, they don't seem to need, or bother changing them at VX service  :-/  :-X Work absolutely perfect  :)

...though got the GM flatblades on astras and work an absolute treat! MUCH better than std. Put some cheap tescos ones on a mates nissan and they work well also  :y

Any new blade will seem good, regardless of price/style

in my experience both my cars have suffered with scratches in the position of the spring contact point, 3 "springs" (is it?) hence 6 higher pressure contact points where the scratches wear is concentrated,to me this indicative of the design and is BOUND to mark the screen eventually, and before you start i change my wipers twice a year. >:(

These new single blade wipers have no such springs and would appear to give a more even pressure across the screen, for that reason i will be trying a set next time. esp if i get a heat reflective wind screen.  :-/

Oh, and i have yet to encounter a set of wipers, genuine or other wise that touched all the screen in the far left bottom corner, so i don't think there will be any great loss there. :y

they may well be crap on the mig, but having encountered them on my Mrs's golf i very much doubt it. Got to be worth a try. ;)

have been looking for a set of aero-twins (by Bosch) for a week now. So far failed to find right size for Omega (I think it is A607S). but both aero and normal ones by Bosch are apparently excellent. I have seen aero wiper blades by Nigrin - has anyone tried those?
