He looked really rough after.  Doesn't look like it will be a pretty start to the race.  :-/

I was a big fan of Hamilton last year in his first season, but for me this year he has exchanged his confidence for arrogance and I am starting to go right off him.

Great driver and aggressive on the track but has he already been distracted by the peripheral attractions of the lifestyle he now leads.........

PS. If it helps to focus his mind a bit, I would be happy to "take care" of his girlfriend for the time being.

I was starting to root for Alonso actually, but then he said he wants to mess up Hamilton's title, so I guess he really hasn't moved on and matured after all.  ::)

The people of this country amaze me sometimes, its only his second season in F1 and were already knocking him at every oppertunity. So what if some of you dont like his attitudem hes BRITISH ffs and we should be supporting him. Everything has gone against him this season, whether it being his own fault or not, points deducted here, drive through penalties there. Its obvious the FIA are Ferrari supporters!!!! and are doing everything they can to help them. Alonso would rather see Massa win the title because of last season, the same Massa who spun out five times in the same race because there was a bit of water in the track, the same race that Lewis completely outclassed every other driver by miles!!!!! but as normal in this country we forget things like this all too easy.

At the end of the day i want to see a Lewis winning the World Championship and you should all do too.

So come on  get behind him and FLY THE FLAG :y

Yeah, but the British like sports people that never actually win a title.  Like Henman.  :P ;D

Henman?? What a bore...Alonso is full of it, only person he wants to help is himself. He says he wants to help FERRARI and Massa win the championship. Looks like Alonso wants a Ferarri drive...What a Tosser that guy is. Unfortunately he is a very good driver >:(.

So... is it the case that if Lewis takes out Massa. Lewis wins title? is anyone else close enough to win if they both dont finish?...

Don't forget the FIA......if Hamilton is on the same track as Massa and Massa doesn't win then Hamilton will be penalised....allegedly

I think, since shithead Schu left, Hamilton is the only exciting driver - usually keen to make a pass.  As Timbuk says, he's a brit, so gets my backing purely on that.

But F1 is so tedious - how often do you hear that tit of a commentator, James Allen, say what an exciting race, just because somebody passed somebody else in the pits?

I think F1 has been going wrong for years, but somehow for UK audience, Murray Walker single handedly made it exciting - him and Brundle made a cracking team.

Agreed, if its not your sport then so be it, its just the continuous putting down of British sportmen and women i dont like.

Im not that keen on Tennis  for example but if Andy murray is playing then i shall support him because he is british.

No one will ever come close to Muddly Talker by the way ;D

I agree we should support our teams and sportsmen.  I did draw the line at Henman, because I really couldn't stand him, and he wasn't a sportsman in my book - he lacked a vital ingredient to be, thats was the desire to win.

Oh, I was also pleased that England failed to qualify for euro 08 - it was the kick up the arse the team needed, and was important to get rid of that useless idiot of a manager.

Kubica can still win the title if hamilton and massa get tangled. I wouldnt want to bet any dosh on him though.
If Hamilton keeps his nerve at the start he should do it. although after the last race it,s a big if.

I wasnt putting him down I was just saying that to me his confidence has progressed this year into arrogance.

Like I said, he is a great driver and is at least not too shy to have a go...!!

I think most of the great drivers I have seen have wobbled along the line between confidence and arrogance - senna and prost certainly did.
btw schumacher would never be on my list of great drivers (no matter what the stats say). he is arrogance personified and didnt understand the concepts of sport or fair play.

I agree with Jaimies post (not licking to admins, i've sailed close to the wind at times & will do again) but he's right, F1 has become as corporate as footy. Schumacher was rude, arrogant & disrespectful, then spat his dummy & left when he stopped winning, good break off.
Sadly the sport has become clinical to watch now, a big overpriced computer game. :(

Again i agree, some of the decisions made this year have bordered on ridiculous and somewhat ruined the season :-/  but i still dont see why we should be slating our own guy for a few mistakes :-/ :-/ Surely his will to win more than makes up for this ;)

Hamilton definately will be a big winner in years to come, but needs to keep his head screwed on.

I think F1 will change a lot in 2010 I can see teams forming their own championship leaving just Ferrari in F1.

Not knocking Hamilton himself, he's not a bad lad but the sport in general has declined which is a shame. I think i heard on the radio a while back that it's got so big it might not be able to sustain itself financially for another season???? :-/

I'd make the most of it this year 'cause the sponsorship levels will PLUMMET next year .Car manufacturers ,Banks and Corporate sponsers will not be able to enjoy the dizzie levels of sheer opulance bought from our spending or saving.
First casualty French Grand Prix 2009, next possibly Williams because they are so financially overstreched .

I usually root for Renault. Why ? Can't afford a Ferrari or a Merc, not keen on the Jap stuff ( as good as it is ), BMW not on my realistic wish list, only brand of car I will probably ever own is Renault. Simple !!! On the subject of Lewis Hamilton I wish him all the best, however a pal of mine who is a F1 nut, buys old passes, just paid £2k for one of Lewis's used crash helmets, has a piece of Trulli's broken clutch rod on his mantlepiece and has paid £150 for a 50ml bottle of the engine oil from Schumakers last race car, yes a proper nutter, sent a painting from a well known motorsport artist to have it signed by Lewis, a limited edition work, and his father told him he was not to sign autographs which may increase the value of something. Greedy or what ?
