Went done to have a look and enquire about the Insignia....
On the vaux website it doesn't mention a launch date.
Walked in, salesman practically jumped on me as soon as my foot was in the door.....
So i asked him about the car, very casually he said that they wouldn't be getting a demo car untl January, but i could order one now if i wanted to, all i need to do is put a £250 deposit down on the car and it will arrive in 16 weeks :o
little did i know the good lady has been on the Vaux website and already got a price for an insignia £29,000 :o :o :o
'Ah yes said the salesman, we will automatically knock £1000 off the list price currently and for the foreseable future..... :D
madness, sheer madness, but they have invited me and her to the launch evening in January
Brochure looks nice

Hate to say this cause it makes my skinfintedness even more apparent but mmh, if they'll knock £1k off this early on, and its a first offer, u'd probably find they would shave the price a bit more.

I *do* like the Insignia, lovely looking car...
But I just like my Omega more!
...maybe if the Insignia was actually RWD... Although I suppose 4x4 aint bad ::)

It IS a good car Jay, but if you can afford it always go for the 2.8iV6 4x4 Elite. See my thread on yesterday's test drive if it helps. :y :y

4x4 or FWD only...
I just hope the 4x4 doesn't prove as pants as the old Calibra/Cavalier versions...

From what I saw, heard, really did feel when driving it and being driven in "rally" fashion by a pro driver, it has no comparison with Vx cars of the past (1980s/90s), with the technology absolutely superb and very impressive giving intelligent reactive drive in especially "sports" mode. :y :y

4WD cars that are based on botched FWD floorpans are no substitute, IMHO. The fact that they expect you to put a deposit down without a test drive shows how important they consider the driving experience to be. ;D

I need to take one of these out for an 'extended' test drive then... :)

Yep. Let us know if you can steer it with the right foot, or does it just plough straight on into a ditch? ;D

In a couple of years time there will be so many Insignia on the road prices will fall through the floor.
Top of the range insignia ....2 years old ...less than £10000..I wager.
I would wait a little while. :y :y :y :y

If the car is a success with the fleet markets, as the omega was in its heyday, then you should be able to pick-up a very low mileage one in about a year or so for much much less than the RRP....
If it is taken up mainly be private owners (e.g. Corsa), deprecation will be much lower though.
I picked-up my Y-reg 2.6 CDX (black with black leather) back in 2001 when it was just 4 months old and had 6k on the clock, for a whopping 10k under list price... those were the days.....

The pro driver did exactly that and powered it out of some crazy angles, gripping the road like superglue with tyres squealing, at up to 80 mph 8-) 8-) :y No drift was evident whatsoever! :D ;)

They had one on show at Oxford Services a while back. Looks decent, but 29K?!? :o
Used cars are dropping in price quickly. :y

Thing is it uses a torque vectoring system (a la Saab) that shifts the power to left or right so I don't ever think it will ever four wheel power slide like those Group B Audi quatro's from the 80's
Bugger

Give it 6 months and there will be a flood of them in the car supermarket type places.
www.directcars.co.uk near me, loads of delivery mileage cars get offered, a mate last year bought a Jeep, all the toys, 12 miles on the clock £12.000k off the list price. BRAND NEW wirh delivery miles.
Remember, theres a cash flow problem in the UK, houses might not move, but dealers will be carrying loads of dead stock. Any one with cash will be able to name thier price to a degree on a car. Expect a minimumm discount of 5% for cash. I used to get 7.5% off brand new Vauxhalls
Look on Google Earth at the docks sideings in Cleethorpes. 1000's of unsold cars, went past 3 weeks ago, a compound full of Audis and annother full of Toyota's I think they were.
Dont believe the hype when they say they dont make much on the sale of a car, if they didnt they would not be selling them, but they make a fortune on finance. Anyone that buy a car just do your home work up and down the country. :y :y

that was the one i was asking about, saloon, in black, black leather, sat nav, 19'' wheels, additional sun blinds and built in car kit.
RRP £28,670, they would knock £1000 off and i wouldn't have it until next September because of the engine.....the 2.8s will be the last ones released >:(
