A guy I know just finished his PhD. He hasn't found a job, but he is a smart guy so he has saved up some money. The problem is that he is being discriminated against. Because he saved money instead of drinking it away like most other students, he has been refused job seeker's allowance! >:(
Therefore, he is living at home and his long-term girlfriend is living with a friend. In an effort to help him out I suggested the poor guy apply for blow job seeker's allowance so that he can afford to move back in with his girlfriend. :P ;D ;D

He is still wrapping up and submitting his thesis, but the paid part is over and he is looking for a job.
He is a bit too stingy, and has a fair bit of money, but not a lot of lovin' :D ;D

Income Support
What is Income Support?
This is extra money to help people on a low income.
It is for people who don't have to sign on as unemployed.
This could be if you are:
* sick or disabled
* a lone parent
* a carer, or
* registered blind.
Can I get Income Support?
It is for people who:
* are 16 to 59 years old
* have a low income
* work less than 16 hours a week
* are not in full-time study
* do not get Jobseeker's Allowance
* do not have savings above £16,000, and
* live in Great Britain

I signed on for the first time in my life when I was made redundant in September, I've been receiving Job Seekers Allowance at the rate of £60.50p a week. I have got off my ar*e and found a job but I can't start it until November 4th, the next available company training course. When I signed on October 8th I told the clerk this and that I would be signing off on Nov 3rd, now here's the rub - because I have found a job and will not be actively seeking work I am not entitled to any more JSA from the day I received the job offer!!!!!!!!! I had been warned that this may be the case and said I was still looking for temporary work until Nov 4th, that's OK then, sign here. We all know of professional benefit claimants, there's a few in every town, but I genuinely don't know how they get away with it, the disabled, unable to work etc, fine, but what about the fit and healthy ones who have never worked ? There were even alcoholics coming in to get their daily drink allowance!!!!!!! I am just pleased to be going back into work and away from the system, I was astounded by what I saw and how much it costs the taxpayer.
