Unless it has a V6 engine it is not a proper Alfa! ;)

At a guess (as we can't [smiley=rolleyes.gif] see, no link!) it is a 164?

Had 2 of them, lusso and a Cloverleaf  [smiley=kiss.gif], wonderful... when they work!

Edit: Now we have the link...

155?? That drives the wrong wheels.. and it's the girly engine!  :P

Quite a tidy looking motor but could look a whole lot better with a decent set of alloys bolted on.  :y ;)

No comments on this particular model, other than its wrong wheel drive.

I ran a 2.5 v6 Alfa 75 for a couple of years.  Absolutely belting 'Q' car - looked like a Fiat but went like the clappers!  Handled quite well too.  Handbrake looked like the flap control from a JumboJet!

Initial fears of maintenance costs and difficulty were soon dispelled.  Like the Omega, there is a thriving group of like minded individuals who endeavour to ensure the cars are kept running.

As long as you like it and can afford the cash costs, give it a whirl.  You may well be pleasantly surprised.

Brilliant cars but the electrics can let them down. It says last of the production run but ive seen the 155 registered on a P plate. The best ones to go for are the later ones with the wider arches they look even better :y

I know Pete, but I dont want to spend a lot of dosh. I'm keeping my meega, she loves her ZT, so it would be a third car and I cant justify a big outlay.

Yeah, electrics.  Just remembered, they have an earth return system, unlike most other makes which have an earth wire self tappered into the bodywork 2 inches from the lights or whatever.

All earths return to an earth block in the engine bay.  Ensure its clean and tight and all should be OK.

At least it was on mine..

Yeah, sure, but its a great bargaining point!  Pull a coule of the black wires off next to the battery and the dash looks like Blackpool Illums and the fekkin thing wont start!  Discount price now applies!

Try the alfa owners forum. There was a P plate on there a month ago and it was tidy with 17" alloys for £400 I was very tempted but the wife would have hung me because I still had the GTV for sale :'(

Naughty boy. When I was younger and used to go to the auctions if there was a car you wanted and it had wheel trims (much more common then) I used to put a couple of nuts behind the trims or if it was RWD put a small thin chain around the prop shaft so when it was driven into the ring it would sound awful, putting people off and you would get the car cheaper ;)

Good idea ;D

I was watching 5th gear a couple of weeks ago and Tiff Needell was testing the new 3.2 Alfa Brera with 4wd and he said he prefered the BMW M3. I think the man has a screw loose

An 155 with a proper V6 engine is considered by me a true drivers car worth keeping forever, Ok it is a front wheel drive but it can embarass many rear wheel drive cars including the omega. The legendary alfa v6 the best v6 engine ever made on the planet.

Naah get a 164, ideally a cloverleaf (220+bhp 3 litre 24v).

Truly the most wonderful engine in existence (well this isde of an Italian V8!)

Getting all misty eyed again...

Then I remember the electrics.... and the torque steer

But then you rev the engine and you really don't care!

Sorry, much preferred the 75.  rear wheel drive, available in 3 ltr cloverleaf as well, went like stink, easy to put sideways if you had a mind.  No wimpish traction control or ABS in this sukka!

Front drive - well not a thing I particularly like, was put off by delivering an Astra GTE and getting terrified by it.

Also had issues with others I have driven - then before buying my own car I used to borrow my mums Avenger estate and lets say they handle VERY well.

Lets say that from delivery driving my favourite was a 4 door saloon with correct wheel drive - made me a Big Vauxhall fan.

I nearly got one some time back.  I seem to remember that they had a major re-vamp around that age, a quick search will tell you everything you need to know but as I remember, there were some important changes made.

I ended up with a 145 Cloverleaf, only 4 cylinders but a cracking engine.  Car had done 10K, electrics were truly awful and build quality was poor.  But then, your not buying it for that reason are you...
