Title: Got stopped earlier and breathalized!
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 10 October 2008, 21:48:48
Actually not quite true.....i was parked up at the time!

A white plain ford focus blocked me in. 4 of those civvy type police (blue bands on their uniforms) got out and one came over.

He said did i mind if i waited until a patrol turned up, they wanted to asked me something......so none the wiser what they wanted I said I didnt mind.

Patrol car turned up and a lady officer explained someone had reported me for drink driving......and they had to follow this up and therefore required to do a breathalizer test.....so i said no probs.

Sat in the back of the patrol car.....while the officer messed about trying to find her breathalizer kit.....only to admit she couldnt find it  ::) and another patrol car was on its way.

5 mins later that turned up......and breath test done....it showed 0
as you would expect i hope.....certainly i knew it would show 0 .

So now you have 4 civvy officers and a car, 1 lady officer in a patrol and a motorway patrol with 2 more men officiers in it........just to give me a breath test  ::)

Dont know who gave the report of me suposedly drink driving........and doubt i ever will.....but i am a bit suspucious of how they knew where to find me........may have been chance i guess.

But i will phoning my office on monday (and not the management either......wont get any info out of them....someone else in the company  ;) ) and ask if the police contacted them and they gave my gps fix to the police.......would that not be breach of data protection....without proper paperwork request.. :-/

It can be done from your moble and to within 5 meteres in a urban area,

last time I checked you only needed Srg to request it from the service provider.

Anyway well done for your patience today; the best, and only safe thing you could do was to just let the Police do their job. :y :y

  Hi TD,
You weren't weaving about whilst driving, maybe looking for something and not realising it leading someone to believe you were pi**ed and reporting your reg. # >:(?

They can give me a breathalyzer test all day long if they like, know it will pass :).

As long as you blew "zero" that's all that matters :y

As you say if you have blood pressure, it'll certainly send it soaring...

Tomorrow will be a better day :) :) :) :)

Dave,
The Data Protection Act is a farce. I know of several organisations, (including a Local Council), who've clearly never heard of it, judging by the private info. they reveal without question.
I know why you were suspected of being on something. You're too bloody laid back.  ;D ;D

Just caught up on this Dave.

If someone had reported you on suspicion of drink driving, there is no way you would have been initially approached by civillian PCSOs - you would have had a response car after you and get breathalised by a Police officer!

It sounds very much to me like PCSO's suspecting it *might* be the case, but because they don't have the power to breathalise you, they had to call some warranted colleagues to deal with it.

The IDEA of a PCSO role I believe is a good one, but there is a lot of skeptcism about how it actually works and quite often I think it's justified.

End of the day you know you've not had a drop, and the breath test proved it - so nothing whatsover to worry about  :y

SO, the question is, being a Taxi Driver......did you have the meter running during all this and charge them at the end?
