And why do you think you will get a better speed?
BT's throughput at the ISP level isn't too bad. The bottleneck will be sync speed or exchange congestion, which changing ISP will make bugger all difference.

at the moment i get

thats with sky/easynet 16mb service (line sync is 9mb today )

well something has changed
I changed from isdn to adsl a number of years ago and my ping to a gaming server went from 90 to 350
took 9 weeks for them to admit the problem was on their network
that said it was a while ago and i am sure things must have improved as there still in the game but having said that so are tiscali pfft

On my BT (BT Business Broadband) line, I get a 6.3Mb sync (about 1.5m from exchange), and around 600kBps download from my test server (lowering to as low as 100kBps at peak times) - I don't pay too much attention to popular online speedtesters - ISPs are getting wise to them ;)
Hard to tell what I get off the Zen line due to all the services, inc OOF, I have running over it.

Virgin 2Mb cable.
Maidenhead server is rubbish from here. Ireland and Faroe Islands usually spot on. :y

Just rebooted my modem, even slower now.

Not complaining about my general speed, but what was frightening was I repeated the test several times on different triangle things on the map and my fastest connection was to Azerbaijan !!!!!

I wou;dn't pay too much attention to these common speed testers.
UK broadband (DSL or cable) doesn't cope too well with constant downloads, being designed for more 'bursty' traffic.
Additionally, the popular speedtesters struggle themselves to provide bandwidth. BT Wholesale's own speedtester is probably the best for accuracy, but doesn't include the ISP.

(http://www.speedtest.net/result/343381834.png) (http://www.speedtest.net)
Apparently there has been a fibre severed somewhere in the London area
This is affecting the BE and O2 network right across the UK.
-
Just shows the difference over a few hours, not sure if it's due to the BT problems or the Net traffic/kids online in general.
Add an hout to the time displayed in the top right of the images for UK times. :y

This is BT Business 2meg - crap or what?
BT Router reckons connection speeds are Incoming: 768 kbps
• Outgoing: 448 kbps
Still crap or what? Thinks I'll reboot the router :)
Glad my home speed is a lot better than this!
