Does anyone know what car they were driving? I've been following this very sad story in the news but couldn't see the car's make/model mentioned anywhere... just curious. :-?

On a BBC new report today they stated the police could only establish details of the car involved by its chassis number! :( :(

TBH, Thats more a case of the reg plates destroyed in the fire/impact - quite common in major incidents

Well, I am sure the police know by now what car it was... and the friends and relatives that were quoted on the news surely know what car the family had... if it is a Toyota, I wonder if it was a Previa, as there were six of them.
The family whose two kids were killed in June by Luke McCormick, the former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper, were in a Previa...
...and I have one :(

Not sure it makes much difference what sort of car you're in if a lorry hits you.
An eggshell made of recycled beans tins just aint gonna stand up to being hit by something built like the Forth Road Bridge .
IME if a lorry hits you hard and you get away with it , you've got someone watching over you from up above.

as police wouldnt prosecute lorry driver would they if the car was overloaded? :-?

Not sure it makes much difference what sort of car you're in if a lorry hits you.
True. A mate of mine and his colleageue got hit by a lorry on the way to a meeting. Both killed, as were occupants in the car behind and the car in front. Motorway was blocked and the lorry driver was just daydreaming and piled stright in to the back of them. :'(
He left his wife pregnant with their first child who never knew her father. Imagine what she through in the following months and years.
So much grief can be caused by an HGV when the driver isn't paying attention, and a lot of the foreign drivers you see on the road these days just couldn't give a break. Makes me think they should be reuired to drop their loads at the docks and get back on the boat.
I saw one a couple of months ago. Latvian registered truck on the M25 in Kent, realised at the last minute that he was in the wrong lane, indicated, waited a second or two and pulled out regardless of the mini that was to his right, and in front of me. Mini had nowhere to go. I'd already dropped back, fortunately, because all the mini could do was to put the brake pedal through the floor and hope he didn't clip the back end of the trailer. >:( That was very nearly carnage, I can tell you.

20 months and 10 weeks, thats really awful, the other too 9 and 13.

That is terrible.
Only thing that I find you can do in stopped traffic is to use your hazards if you're at the back of the line, and leave enough room in front of you to try to get out of your lane - especially if you are behind a truck.

My only hope in this is that none of the family seen the truck coming at them. However, if I am honest I sadly expect that at least the father (driving) would have been aware of what was about to happen.
Always makes me feel sick when there are kids involved, as it did when that idiot footballer killed them 2 young lads just a bit further down the M6 a couple of months ago.
Please dont blame truck drivers per se for this, it is not the truck that kills....its the driver, and that can be in any vehicle......Obviously though when a large HGV is involved in an accident, due to the size and weights involved it is normally a very big accident and it is usually someone else that comes off worse than the trucker.
May they all rest in peace, and like mentioned before at least they are all still together.

I dont relax until I know the vehicles behind have started to slow down/stop, once the foot hits the brake I have one eyeball on the rearview mirror.....
