Title: AWARE **Postcard Scam**
Post by: waspy on 25 October 2008, 11:27:01
I've just been talking to my mother & a friend of hers received a card through her door from someone/some where that says you have a parcel awaiting collection & would you ring this No. The No's a scam that costs you £15.00 as soon as you ring it & guess what, yup you don't have a parcel. The friend lives in Glasson in Lanc's.

Thought i'd bring it to everyone's attention

I get dozens of emails offering me vast amounts of money in exchange for all my peronal details, one even wanted a photo copy of my driving licence, do they think I am stupid...... >:(

I guess that some people are though, or these scams could not continue. :-X

Yes Mike some people are so stupid.
A classic was, at my last place of work, we had a cleaner named Kevin, he was sending money to a women (supposedly) in Nigeria & in total he'd sent £350.00 until we talked him out of it. Guess what, it was the usual "my son needs an operation blah blah blah"

Though fortunatly most of us are more astute :y

I'm about to collect my winnings from a couple of Nigerian lotteries. Apparently I've just won about £/$1 Million on one and around £/$750 000 on another.

It's all true!!!!!  ::)  ::)  :y  :y

A few years ago the woman who lived opposite us came across with a "prize winning" letter from Readers Digest which had been delivered to her address by mistake.
My wife told her she needn't have bothered , cos we just chuck them in the bin anyway.

Ooh you shouldn't do that , she said , we just won £175000 on it.

A few months later the couple split up (who were in their seventies)because the husband outed himself as gay and went off to live with his boyfriend !!

You just couldn't make it up , could you?

Having said that I'm sure a lot of these things are total scams and you've got to be careful, especially if you're old .

watch out also if you are a small business for charity/police/fire awarness scams.They ring upto get you to advertise your business on a wall calendar or similar that helps support some charity or other,usually sick kids.Practically zero money goes to charity and the charts might not even be printed.There are quite a few of these based around the northwest.I fell for it once I'm embarrassed to say and the next thing was loads of unsolicited calls from other scammers with a similar offer of advertising,once bitten twice shy. :-[
