Not a statement I would agree with......and I own both types.

There only as good as the last owner!

I have owned both, the first being a 3.0 Elite, but my current facelift 2.5 V6 CDX pleases me more :y :y :y.

When I purchase another, which I hope to next year, it will be a facelift 3.2 V6 Elite, hopefully of the last year they were made 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-), so sticking to what I consider the best of the Omega's.

However I still prefer my Senator back!! ::) ::) ::) ::) :D ;)

That is exactly my feeling Andy, and I had spent a lot of time and money on it!! ::) ::) ::)  Traded it in for three year old 3.0 V6 Elite Omega.......which I loved a lot, but immediately regretted parting with the Senny! :'( :'( :'(

They're not too bad, I have one, as does SWMBO, but if I buy an Omega I want it to look like an Omega  .... not an Astra.  ;)

I like the facelift Omega better overall, but do prefer the grill/frontend on the pre-facelift :y

A couple of years ago i disliked the facelifts but having taken time to look @ other members cars & seeing them on the road (where i spend all my time) i can see what some folk see in them. They have a fresh classy look to them & i like them more than i used to.
However i still think they're a bit plastic looking in & out, the rear bumper's too big & square & the mini facelift just looks meaner.

na na na naaa naa :P

I've had: a Carlton 2.6 Dimplomat, a Senator 3.0 24v, a pre-facelift 3.0 Elite and now a facelift 3.2 Elite with new MV6 suspension.

The last is the best IMO by a clear mile.

Externally the only thing better about the PFL was the bumpers,. FL are a bit fat.

But body colour side strips and more angular rear lights look better

.......angular rear lights look better

But ....... IMHO  ;) the darker tint of the PRE face lift look better. A bit like the Astra H's tail lights, bog standard have white-ish indicators, whereas the go-faster coupes have a darker tint to theirs which look better.  :y  :y  :y

Having owned both...
Apart from personal taste, i dont agree.

The later cars where refined in some areas as they would be in a development cycle of any vehicle, drive by wire, so no idle control valve(no cleaning for tick over issues), no egr valve(often failed or played up), better fuel injection system(pedal trick) not to mention more go. The shape is more modern, as is the interior...

As for personal taste, i dont like the orange lights and the climate controle panel. The head unit area is a little bland but the extra features of the elite make up for that, esp with a cid. I prefered the centre console of the pre facelift. Over all though, face lift everytime.

Just one thing, i find navigation of the head unit(2015) far less logical than the old car. Pita to use with the stearing wheel controles. Or am i being thick?

With brand new MV6 suspension, you try driving a Senny round corners at the speed and way I can now. There's no contest on the driving in that way.

I will give it to you on the Senator on the Motorway, but only marginally. The Senator is definitely a very, very close 2nd.

Well yes Albatross, I must accept that as good as the Senny is, it is a car designed in the 1980s so lacks those features created for the later Omega's of the 1990s and especially 2000s! :y :y

I think during my recent test drives in the Insignia models, especially the 2.8iV6 4x4 Elite I had a taste of what you mean with uprated MV6 suspension plus the 4x4 inteligent sports control (and with a lovely pro driver Antanio with me at one stage!! :-* :-*) ;D ;D :y :y :y :y
