Some may remember i went for a CBT some months ago, but the instructor was not exactly a nice person, using appauling langauge on the slighest mistake.
Decided to have another go, re-booked it with another company in town.
Going this Friday :)

Best of luck for Friday :y
-
Good luck mate.
Is CBT a pass/fail thing?
When I did it, we just had a couple of hours in the classroom, looked at the bikes, rode around some cones in a carpark, and then went out on the road for a bit under supervision!
It was actually really good fun.. . :y

Yep thats it, but because there was 3 of us, he could only take 2 out at a time, he told me and this other guy (we were on the geared bikes) to come back another day.
Trouble was about 2/3 times out of the WHOLE day i let the clutch out too fast, and he would respond "don't fcking do that, i told you not to fcking do that from the start, bla bla bla" Never gave a compliment.
Day he told us to come back it was pissin it with rain, so i never bothered.

Some people are just not natural instructors. No patience. Reminds me of a gliding instructor I once had who used to start to rant every time anyone made a mistake. "it's only a rather aeroplane, for break's sake. just fly the rather thing!" Errrm. Isn't that what you're supposed to be teaching me?

Oh Tunnie! :o
.....I`m disgusted you had to put up with that; do please consider writing a formal letter of complaint to that foul-mouthed man`s employer.
How may other students must`ve suffered at the 'potty-mouth' of that buffoon! >:(
Good luck with the new CBT set-up; then soon, it`ll be happy bikin` all the way! ;)

What if it rains? That was your excuse last time ::)

Good luck tunnie! Don't give up either if it rains or is bad weather, I did mine in a downpour and still passed! (altho my instructor wasn't an arse like your last one!)
:y

If i wake up and its chucking it down, i won't bother, make it another day.

Today was nice 8-)
I would only ever be a fair weather biker, but i pay £80 a month for the privilage of parking my car on tarmac next to the station. Fuel bill is around £100 a month.
Bikes can park for free, and i would get 60mpg rather than 30.

It'll do 65... 70 if im going downhill and have a good tailwind ::)

i rekonded 50mpg on a 600 on average.
100mpg would be nice, but i don't think 65 mph would cut it on the A43 to the station.

So ... you can't just turn up for your test on a 250cc bike any more? ;) ;) :y :y

I'm a fair weather Westfield driver but it doesn't stop me having a hood and a mac in the boot. You will get caught out one day so it may as well be your CBT day IMHO. No-one would ever do much in this country if they stayed in whenever the weather was iffy. ;)

I got 200 out of my moped
Best/worst on a 600 was under 30mpg :-[
Used to get 60 out of a 250
-
i used to get 25 -30mpg out of my Honda CB1000 big one :(, then i was giving it large handfuls everywhere :) :) :) just loved the sound off the "two brothers "full system on it
-
I get about 40mpg from my cbr600 :'(
Good luck with the cbt Tunnie, btw rain or not, wrap up warm from head to toe.A cold day on a bike can be miserable and could put you off (again!). :y

Snow boarding gear would keep me warm, but i would look a idiot.
i might 'borrow' my mums berghaus ;D

My TDM 850 does about 45 mpg no matter how it's ridden. I have to admit that I'm a bit of a wuss when riding it. :-[ ;)

I tend to get around 50mpg from the ZX10. Its not the most economical bike ever made, nor the lightest - esp with a fat git on it.
But whatever you do Tunnie, get proper protective gear - do not skimp on that! Snowboarding stuff will not be goo enough.

No paid any money, pay on the day 8-)
yeah i will get the gear, they provide it for the CBT, but after that i will get my own stuff. I know from snowboarding that you own gear makes a big difference to your comfort level.
Just been thinking of ways to cut my commute and save money, i like living at home.
I could prob save £300 a month if i biked in, and could do the run in about 1hr15-1hr25 i rekon?

All the best for Friday
.Examiners can be right ars*holes.I failed my first drivivng test,he said i pulled out from the side of the road in front of someone, never did!!!!.It later turned out the instructors using that centre didn't have a single pupil pass that week who went out with this numpty,he was retiring at the end of week and emmigrating to Canada and felt he had to ruin peoples lives before he went.

Exactly! I'd be the same if it was me, if they cancelled due to the weather on the day, I'd tell em to go elsewhere if they tried to rebook.

So if you take your brand spankers new (after you pass your CBT) motorsickle out for a sunny sunday jaunt then - horror of horrors - it starts to rain, what then? Park up and get a train/taxi home?
If you want to walk the walk, then the least you could do is learn a bit of elementary self preservation and experience 'what if?' when you are still a Bambi Biker - rather than as an apparently fully feathered, hard as a hard thing, seen it/done it eejit that got it wrong when he should have known better, type person..........
The tarmac can be sore and jaggy when you hit it wrong, irrespective if wet or dry..... I've tried both as well as points in between, just for fun. Rather not do it for laughs sometime soon again, thanks.... :(

The way i look at it, I'd rather be able to ride a bike first in the dry, be confident on it, not stalling, turn well, not mess up the gears. I had enough problems working out what gear the damn thing was in when the road was clear!
When i have that ability, when its raining i will go out... way i see it is i don't want to be stalling it, not knowing what gear i am in, sitting at a junction in the pouring rain.
I want to be able to change gears up and down without thinking what to do in terms of clutch, which may left foot has to go and so on, i want to be thinking about how to adapt to the conditions, ie, i should be in gear 2 for this bit, do xxx mph.....
Basically walk before i run!
-
quite a few bikes have gear inicators fitted Tunnie, and those that dont can usually have them retro fitted. :y
-
Which gear you're in on a bike is largely irrelevent. You know if you're in the right gear...
