As James said 2k is plenty despite higher forecourt prices. Go for low miles over toys (although the Elite has plenty tp play with) Cambelts NEED doing every 4 years or 40k regardless of what the seller tells you. Otherwise history etc & you should be fine.
We'll want piccies when you find one, good time of year to buy.
Regards from another artic driver!!! :y

I think that is already close to what I would pay for a 51 plate miggy

slighty too new also ...£400 + tax next year.

Nice car all the same though. :-* :-* :-*

I think that car looks great.

He's right about the tax^^. Anything post March 2001 will cost you more in tax; I have this issue, but I simply don't care. I have the saloon version of this car and love it to bits.

As for the price, you could do better, but if it doesn't go much higher I would consider it.

Ask the seller about when, and at what mileage, the cam-belt was last done and what year sat-nav disk it has with it (if at all).

How close is it to you? I see that it is in Devon, so if that is too far away from you (same goes for any car I imagine) take a look at the OOF map to see who is close and perhaps ask them to take an educated closer look on your behalf.

That at least might allow you to broaden your search geographically with a greater degree of confidence.

I know if it were near me I'd go over it with a fine tooth comb for you.  :y

As to your original question: A lot these days! Certainly a good 3.2 Elite. You could buy one and do all sorts of things to it. Typically speaking you can get your cam-belt done for about £200 if done by the right person. There are a few people on here who would do this for you.

i thought clarksons comments were quite funny however i know some people didnt  ;D , as for the location i.m up in sunny glasgow , travelling isn't a major issue as i could tie it in with work but if i could find something closer to home it would help a great deal , as for the cambelt i would have no probs doing it myself as i worked as a light and heavy mechanic for many years and i'm still a member of the trade club , althoug iv'e never changed a 3.2 belt and rollers i have done the saab transverse 2.5 and shouldn't think there is a great deal if difference , i could be wrong though.
