A Monaro would be nice, however I'm thinking on a large Audi.
-
It depends on what i can afford at the time ;)
-
currently using 2 cars so assuming a longer life :-/
but what I will drive after is a good question..
possibly I will continue to drive 2 cars..one must be economic..(so will
keep clit) may be in time I will change omega with M3 (hehe where is
my lottery ticket ;D)
by the way japanese cars are never an option for me..parts are hardly found (for second hand) ,you need wait long time for them and crazy expensive

When space is needed an Audi RS6 Avant would suffice.
For sunny days a Mazda MX-5 would suit me just fine. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-
-
If money no object, i'd have to look further as i don't know, but TVR would be there somewhere.
On a Mig budget i'd like a big Audi, 540 or 8 series 2dr Beemer or a 3 series M (if too pricey a 328 would do), 2dr Mk3 Cortina GXL or GT, T5 Volvo, maybe a Merc.
Stuff all that, Mk1 Golf GTi. I'll stop at the end of the twisties & have a cuppa while you lot catch up, pure grin factor!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-)

Actually BMW 540 and 528 with sport packages are good cheapo alternatives (initally) ..540 is really thirsty and expensive in maintenance though (8 liters of oil, 8 sparks ouch :o) but 5 series a bit smaller than miggy in inside.. :-/
even E46 328 is not bad..

Saloons are lovely motors but the estate models just look wrong to me.

Normally I'd agree with you, there's not many cars that look better as an estate than they do as a saloon, but IMHO 300C estate looks better ..... it'd look even better if someone had put a bit more thought into where to stick the totally uneccessary rear fogs. Dodge Magnum doesn't have 'em.

300C is really a W124 merc lol
hmm i would have a R33 GT-R VSpec II Skyline they are becoming very affordable now but at 21 with 4 yrs no claims thy still want £2k!
-
already replaced a tractor mig with a tractor mig. and look to replace with same again. only rear wheel drives that come to mind are mercs and bmws. will stay older than 2001 due to road tax so will be staying with migs for a long time yet. :y
-
Qashqai!
Never been in one, just really like the look of them!
Test drove one last year, lovely and comfy, and Iliked the shape, if they had done a diesel auto then I would have had one. :) :) :)
-
It will be tough, It depends what is availible in 2023. :y
I have now a '88 XJ-S V12 and a '99 Elite.
Imagine how cool they will look in another 10 years, like having an E-Type and a Vauxhall Royale now! 8-)
-
I forgot to mention XJ's, had a Daimler Soveriegn years ago, same time as a mate had a V12 Jag.
The XJ's have a certain timeless presence to them. 8-)

There's a Series II Double Six on eBay at the moment clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1978-DAIMLER-DOUBLE-SIX-COUPE-AUTO-RED_W0QQitemZ140280102109QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140280102109&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1309)

Loads of cars I'd love to own: Monaro, Audi TT, VW Passat, etc I've got an Omega because it was affordable to buy, parts are cheap, local garage can service it etc. I'm struggling to find anything that meets all those criteria with a semi decent engine. Main sticking point for me is that newer cars with >= 1600cc all incur super high taxation costs. >:( performance diesels are cheaper to tax but 5 times more expensive to buy, even when old and >100K on the clock. So when the Omega finally dies I may have to resign myself to Public transport or a Corsa 1.2, I can't decide :-/

No ta! Will not ever drive a small car!
Some may remember that i arrived at the lakes meet 07 in a hired Megane. This was negotiated after they tried to fob me off with a micra as a family car! The manager was quite concerned that i wouldn't manage such a big car! He was quite taken aback when i told him what i drove and that i would not under any circumstances drive a small car!
I just have no concept of spacial awareness in a small car!!!!!!!! ;D
Qasqai here i come! ;D

I quite like the new one, no room in the back seat so not practical, but a better retro than the mini, imho........... ;D
-
replacements to consider:
300c - they are still coming down in price.
A8 - lot of car for your money if a little bland
Merc E class - 300C looks better and more individual (sorry Jon)
skoda superb - possibly if the right one came along, although FWD >:(
BMW 7 series - pre 2000 model, they still look good
as a second car - the 911 will be there in the garage
-
Bmw 630. Might be old but still good.
-
Something else for £500. ;) ;)
-
late nineties 7 series with lpg would do fine. :y
-

So long as its not raining, ive got the roof down ;)
-
THinking of what there is
Too young for a Merc.
VXR8 appeals
5 Series is a reliable alternative big saloon with RWD
Chrysler 300 I think is ugly
-

I liked the ones with the pepperpot wheels best Amigo.
Series 3 car? :-* :-* :-*
-
300c
-
Either a 300c or another 735i like i already have ;D
-
Must admit i like the look of the 300 estate but ive heard the build quality is not of the highest order :( So i think it will have to be a E class estate for me but, but i think that decision on me next car is a couple of years down the road as me miggy has plenty of life in it still ;D ;D ;D
-
For value for money just have a look at the price (Autotrader) of the 'Jaguar S-Type' £3k gets you started and rwd to boot.
regards

Think the miggys will out last me :( so unless a major fall out with them will be driving them when I'm very old as at the moment i'm only classed as an "older person" :y ::)
-
And this is really an alternative for me after 4 years..
2 liter turbo with 6 speed manual 8-)

I think by the time I am finished with my miggy, even if it was tommorow, I will just go for a pilots licence and buy a plane! 8-) 8-) 8-)
The roads are just getting too crowded, so reach for the sky I say! ::) ::) ::)
See you up there Debs! :D :D ;)

I was all up for either the estate or saloon but then found out there's no manual option.
So off the list it went.
So now (fingers crossed in the next 6 to 8 weeks)
The omega wil be replaced by either:
1st choice Subaru Legacy GTB estate 2000 model year. If I cant find one then a Mitisubushi Legnum VR4 estate
Then the question will be do I use it for my massive 18 mile return commute journey or let the wife use it and I have her Focus for my commute? ? ?

I dont like autos.
I want to choose what gear for what situation.
The qualified Police instructor training and other Police courses have given me the experience of autos changing gears when it has been bl00dy dangerous to do so.....like when the car is balanced through a series of bends....don't want a gear change there >:(
