Title: 2.5td engine problem
Post by: eugene on 12 November 2008, 18:35:57
Can anyone help me with my 2.5td omega, engine problem, running very bad at idle, no power, heavy fuel consumption. We suspect a tooth has jumped in the timing, has anyone experienced this?

Hiya, sorry to hear about your probs  :(

Jumping a tooth is fairly unlikely as the timing is chain driven, I have heard of chains getting worn and becoming slack and this affecting running. How many miles has the engine done?

Your probably better posting in General Help though - or a Mod could move this one?  :y

Welcome Eugene. Post your query in general help, it will get more attention from the people who know such things.

If the chain jumps, it will run like a sack of shite, if you get it to run at all.  Usually caused by a broken guide.  Poor oil servicing excessively wears chains.

Officially to change the chains, its a head off and sump off job. Right pig.  So worth exploring other possibilities first.
