Title: Well that was a productive day...
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 19 November 2008, 14:40:55
Yesterday, saw my GP at 17:30

She admitted me to hospital, told me I need antibiotics via IV drip, blood tests, etc. I was told to expect at least a week in there. Reason for this is because the blood infection has spread and is now affecting my legs.

She gave me a lettter, said pass this to A+E, and you will go straight through.

So, I go to A+E, with my letter. Hand it in, get told to take a seat. About an hour passes, and the triage nurse sees me. She does my admission paperwork, puts the band on my wrist, tells me to go and wait in the waiting room again.

2 more hours (or so) pass by, and the Doctor calls me through. Gives me a very quick examination, says "Go home, continue with your pills, see your GP if it gets worse".

What a waste of an evening, and I'm not exactly inspired with confidence that I'm getting enough treatment  :-/

Thing is, I am not overly concerned about the finger - it's the knock on effect that the infection has had on everything else  :'(

do you get any private healthcare through work?

I'm not sure the NHS give us Bupa cover as standard... it might cause some people to be concerned  ;D  :y

That is crap!

Why does the A&E doctor think he knows more than your doctor? Did he do a blood test?

I suggest going back and faking it a bit >:(

It's OK - until the NHS fix me, they can continue paying me a full time salary to sit on my a$$ at home and browse the web  ::)

I would go back and tell your GP you weren't admitted. See what (s)he has to say.  >:(Kevin

I considered that earlier, just called the GP surgery. She will be able to see me on Friday if she has a cancellation, failing that, first opportunity is Tuesday, and I run out of medication at the end of tomorrow  :'(
