Title: £377.20
Post by: waspy on 04 December 2008, 11:07:53
is the insurance quote i've had today through the post from the AA for my 2.2 diesel :o :o :o. I guess i must have stolen an Imprezza, drove it high speed & stuffed it through a shop window, but not realized :-? :-?
This qoute is from a panel off 20 insurers.
Can some folks recommend some insurers for me to call that aren't going to qoute me a stupid price :y

Churchill are pretty good but I am currently with More Than. If you join Autobahnstormers then you get a club discount through Footman James.

Funnily enough my renewal has just come through the letterbox. TPF&T in protected NCB and 12 months breakdown cover is £294.00 with More Than.

I will shop around before renewing

Insurance companies are in my view little more than legalised  crooks.

I have full no claims ,in fact I don't think that i have ever made a claim, and yet they still load my policy every year. :-/ :-/ :-* :-*

£220 for my TD, that's with LV Frizzell.....Try also the Post Office insurance. They use to give £50 cashback after you have taken out the policy, which worked out cheaper for my other car but still nearly as much as the TD and it's only a 1.3cc runaround.

I believe some ins comps will give discount if you cap your mileage to say 6k/yr......might be worth a try.  :y

I have found Elephant to be loads cheaper than anybody else for myself recently. I am coming out of a company car scheme and because people have crashed into me and not left details I am only claim free since May 2006.

They have given me the 2years NCD and a fully comp with class1 business use for £530. Other companies where quoting £1500 and more!!! >:(

N.B. Class 1 business use should never attract an additional premium. If they try it on shop around.

Yep, i allready have that on & i think it's 7000 just for safety :y
IIRC the AA where dear last year too, i wouldn't mind, but my cars garaged, low miles, full no claims, i live in a decent area & it's a bloody diesel FFS :(

I'm with http://www.1stquote.co.uk First time I've stuck with an insurance company for more than a year. Have been really good on price and customer service. They are one of the few that'll touch me with 14 points, a ban and 3 claims  ::) They also do a good breakdown cover thats backed by the RAC, but a load cheaper than them.
As silly as it sounds I put my dad on my insurance as a named driver and it makes it cheaper!

Would never use Swiftcover or Tescos again from experience.
Just a word of warning about Swiftcover and printing off your own ins cert. Most Post Offices will no longer accept them when you come to renew your tax (you have to do it online), and plod wont accept it at roadside when they haven't updated the insurance database, my car was nearly impounded as said plod kept me at the roadside and the local station for 3 hours whilst refusing to let me prove on-line that I was insured and the cert was genuine, only when I asked for medical assistance as my sugar levels were low was I allowed to go! I proved the following day that I was insured and he still wasnt happy ::)
