Title: Cold Callers
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 04 December 2008, 13:22:45
Is there any where to complain and register complaints about cold callers and thier companies.

I have a sign on the door saying NO Canvasers, cold callers or circulars.  The curtains were closed.  2 load lots of hammering on the door to a Can I interest you in" . . . . ER NO

Then I explain it's inconvieniant and he ignores me trying to get a sale.

At least I got a leaflet off this one. . . . But I am getting seriously hacked off with them.

TIA for any help. :y

Got some after 2 complaints to the post office.  Poor driver turned up (very nice bloke and has allways been helpfull) had had an accident 2 weeks before and spent the 2 weeks off work, so they let all his deliveries build up rather then send them out with someone else..  But still 3 parcels considered lost.

This one went off after a ticking off, but I got his name and number 1st, which just recently they seem to be reluctant to mention the company untill they think they have a lead.

I ask them nicely not to call again, and they agree.

But the next time it is a different person from the same company.

These firms have a very high staff turnover. :-/ :-* :-* :-*

I rung the company up and told them I would make a complaint of harrasment to the police if they allowed annother caller to knock on my door.

I love cold-callers but my wife won't let me play. I let them talk for ages (my record is 25 minutes) then point out that we don't want anything. Phone ones are even better as 999 times out of 10 they are calling from India or similar but claim to be in the UK...I keep pointing out that cold tele-sales are illegal in the UK for UK companies and it puts them right off their script.
If they are on the doorstep you need to step to one side and point at something in the house and when they look let them know that you now have a photo.....they are on your property so they can't stop you, not that there is actually a camera there but watch them beetle off at top speed.   :D :D :D :D

Quick update, just had a full refund from one seller regards missing items.  2 to go, if not sorted in 2 weeks then will apply to Paypal for a refund..  Will remind them on a weekly basis in the mean time.

I asked one to hang on just a second, went upstairs & brought down an old mobile phone with no sim card & set about trying to sell it to him, explaining all the features, asking if he'd like a demonstration, not letting him get a word in (believe it or not)!!! He crumbled, made his excuses & left, obviously his training did'nt cover such things. Never found out what he wanted. ;D

When I registered with TPS it all stopped.  You can also apply to stop getting junk mail which worked too.

The canvasers stopped when I started opening the door wearing a wifebeater and carrying a can of stella which I swigged just before opening the door.  Tried to drag one in with a rather good imprssion of a drunkard saying " 'ave yer seen me ferret collection?"

Guess what?!  He ran off!  ;D ;D

I have a sign saying no sales people, god squad or hawkers, if they've still got the neck to call, I tell them to F*CK OFF and shut the door.
