I thought I saw about a year ago brand new crated engines and gearboxes for the LC going on ebay for about 6K for an engine, expensive, yes. If it has a rear shunt there must be plenty of Carlton's in the breakers yard that you can cut the back end off or even re shell it, 2 years ago I sold my mint 1989 Carlton 2.0 GL for £50.00, it had not a spot of rust in it. I believe all the body mods on the LC where at the front and the base car was, a base car they started with when building a LC.
As for the body kit, even aftermarket is better than destroying it surely.
