Title: Vax or...
Post by: feeutfo on 01 December 2008, 23:22:10
is there a better product? The Mrs has seen a macro offer of Vax rapide powerjet pro carpet washer and turboforce bagless vacuum cleaner for £100 plus vat. Both are uprights. Our Dyson has been down the stairs a phew too many times and the carpets also need cleaning. Henrys have good suck but not used the "wet" or blue version. Does this wash and vacume or wash only. Any recommendations or thoughts? Cheers.

Used a green "Henry" for light carpet cleaning.  Seemed to do the job ok.

We have VAX hoover  ours sucks  ;D Seriously i dont think its that great but it is an older model the carpet shampoo stuff/tools with it was rubbish used it once never again, basically it uses water too quickly so if your doing a postage stamp size carpet then its fine borrowed a carpet shampooer from a friend worked much better  >>>
PS great for vaccing car out though! :y

Weve got a Bissell, Very good.

Cost about £200, often see on offer at £99 in Macro etc

Its an upright, so takes up a lot of space, and is heavy to use, but does a good job, has built in tools for doing the stairs etc as well.

We've got the latest Bissell "Pro-Heat All Rounder" which is absolutely brilliant. We've got the cylinder version and it varies in price from about £200 (when I bought it in Makro) to £270 but is worth it.

The biggest complaint is that it's a bit of a pain sorting out the water filter all the time but it's worth it! The hoover side is good but it's when you start washing it comes into it's own! It heats the water and it really did revive a carpet I thought was only good for the bin :o :o :y :y

had 1 when i lived with my x, used to clean fish tank out with it, well worth its money, but we used a professional carpet cleaner for the carpets, lot more power. my brother owns a carpet shop ;)

I would be surprised if Makro was the cheapest (they rarely are)

We have a Bissell (can't recall the model no.)  was about £85 off QVC (I think)  squirts water and sucks water and dirt - very good and small enough for Mrs M-J to use - but she doesn't!

As an aside I pressure wash my Omega's car mats (they are cream) and usually suck the excess water out with the above Bissell  (its a bit like this http://www.bisselldirect.co.uk/product/1048)

Bissel             3
Oh, and 1 against macro. Hate the place myself.

I've already made my opinion above... But this (http://www.bisselldirect.co.uk/product/1085) is what we've got and it's superb... Although the water filtration system makes it a PITA for a quick flick around!! ::) ::)

I got it from Makro because they were £50 cheaper than anywhere else :o :o

I also broke my rule and took out the extended warranty for 5 years and accidental damage cover for 3 years... £5.90/mnth for 10 months IIRCC!

Ive got a VAX upright and a VAX carpet cleaner.....but not the models you are looking at......the vacuum cleaner is good, except the carpet roller stopped working.....took me a while to find the broken wire!! It was just out of warranty too  ::) But its working again fine now.

Carpet cleaner is only good for doing small spills.....you couldnt use for a whole carpet.....but then it was advertised as such....so guess it works as it says  :y

We have a Vax Powa 4000 and use it for cleaning rather than Vacuuming.

Our other is a Dyson
