Stats from this site show IE7 is getting close to overtaking IE6 this month. Some of my other sites, it has already done so...

IE6 = 46%
IE7 = 41%

Probably due to auto updates, it's much better in my opinion, never had a problem with it. Still prefer firefox though ;)

firefox 2 (all variants) = 4%

IE7, no probs so far, wasn't downloaded automaticaly, I downloaded it myself.
I think it is far superior to IE6.

Same here, except on the Vista machines where you have to run IE7...

Until Firefox can render more pages properly, people will not entertain the idea, hence the small market share its got...

Renders things fine here, built in spell checker is very useful for my crap spelling! I also find it faster than IE7

The only page i have found that it cannot render yet is my works diary and time recording page. Reason being because it uses masses of MS code.
-
Only page I have problems with MS updates, use IE for that....

Intranets in particular are problematic, as most companies 'web designers' do it as a sideline to their proper job, and often aren't that good.
But still quite a lot of internet pages that won't work properly, though IE7's popularity may help that (IE7 more standards based, so more like Gecko based browsers, such as FF, for rendering)
-
Just spent the morning going through this months security flaws (generated internally, so is a superset of the standard CERT ones) - FF hasn't had a good couple of months... ...actually, for a number of months now (over a year), FF has had more vulnerabilities than IE...

Links (the text based browser available on most *nix systems) is far superior to IE6 ::)

Links is available for Wintel systems as well. Incidentally, tends to only come with Linux type Unix...
But then, as nobody has written a usable, secure, stable graphical desktop for Unix, a text based option is your only choice ;)

I'm guessing that IE3.02 user is doing it to provoke a reaction from me?

My laptop was slowing down.....after installing IE7 .....continuous disk activity for 5 mins or so at times...and i was starting to blame IE7 for it....but yesterday i ran defrag.....dunno how long it took....i started it and then went off to work.....laptop is running a lot faster again now :y
My desktop upstairs still has IE6 on it that i sometimes use to access OOF.....does that mess up the stats? :-/

No, stats here are unscientific, plus we have a higher proportion of savvy users than general sites... ...also, one person wouldn't really skew stats...

What other browsers are using the remaining 8.7%???? Netscape??? and IE3.02??!!?? :)

What other browsers are using the remaining 8.7%???? Netscape??? and IE3.02??!!?? :)
The non IE browsers (90%) are FF2, FF1 (yes, half of FF users are using critically flawed older versions, probably smugly thinking they are safe as they don't use IE!), bit of Netscape, tiny bit of Opera, bit of Safari (Macs), some generic Mozilla, even some poor sod using Konquerer (Muppet ;))

Safari is in the Jan stats, so someone (I suspect more than one) is still using it...
