Title: Bloody Parking Ticket
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 20 December 2008, 14:11:32
I took Mrs Loo-knee and her mum and our girls to Iceland last night.
Mother-in-Law is Disabled so she put the bages in the windscreen on the passenger side shut the door then went in the shop.
Came out and I had a ticket under the wiperblade... The Badges were on the passenger side footwell, so must have slid off the dash when she shut the door.
So I have wrote a letter explaining what happened and her Badge Number etc..
Just hope they let me off £50 if paid in 21 days then goes up to £70  :o :(

Sorry to hear mate. Well worth appealing that one.

I got an NCP ticket a few weeks ago - had to take it on the chin though - cos it was my fault  :-[

if its not a council issued ticket ignore it these private ticket firms cant enforce any tickets under the british legal system! (would get thrown out of court)

if its a council one ring the council up and explain the situation as you have a disabled badge they will probs ask you to come to there offices and they will cancel the PCN

i have gotten off every single ticket ive had issued so parking tickets are my forte!

It is Euro Car Parks not the Council. says something along the lines of if the ticket is not paid they request your details from DVLA. The details then passed onto a third party for collection. Admin fees will be added  :(

Some years ago I was fined £20 for over staying my time on my parking ticket.

I was fined exactly the same amount of money as if I had not purchased a ticket in the first place.

How unfair is that?.

In fact, I was actually worse off,as I paid for the original ticket. :( :( :(

I got a ticket myself from Liverpool Council for parking on a single yellow...

Now my understanding is, unless otherwise specified, you can park for a maximum of 20minutes.  And as I was loading stuff from the car to my new flat, I was there for about 15 minutes...

Sent a letter to them as soon as I got the ticket, explaining it, saying there is CCTV at the flats I was moving into which can confirm times, and also then went onto technicalities such as the lines being invalid due to not being terminated correctly...

They sent a letter back saying that the fine was now double due to none-payment, and that I should now cough up the monies blah blah...

I actually posted them another letter with a single rasher of bacon in it...  Just saying, please enjoy this tasty bacon as you read the previous letter again, and also the DFT regulations in regards to yellow line regulations, and again just reference against the pictures...

Not heard anything ever since... I guess they enjoyed there bacon butty :)

What about 'Private Industrial area's' where our office is you can get a ticket, I had a run in with them in the past, got a ticket cos theycould not clamp my car, argued it never paid.
If you are right I am interested, can you point me in the direction of the legislation, I would happily test it out at work :y

Bit of a b*gg*r really, but the blue badge scheme only applies to on street car parks, not to off street ones ( what the definition is I have no idea -- but would assume a private park to be off street.

Like her style but theres a faint memory somewhere that the maximum amount of coins for a transaction to be legal is only a couple of quid, if that??

Not so much a legal thing, but the receiver can choose to not accept anything over £2 in raw change (coppers)

Isn't it legal tender ?. If they don't accept it that's their problem, you have offered legal tender as payment of the debt. I suspect the Banks don't want it cause they would have to count it all !.

loo-knee i work for ECP just follow the details on the ticket and write to head office stating your side of the case and hopefully cancel the pcn as this appears to be an honest mistake of the disabled badge falling off when you closed your door...
