Scottish power provide my gas/elec. I choose to have them on prepayment meters despite a slightly higher tariff to save meter readings & arguments every quarter over thier wild estimates. Gas is fine but recently we all had to have new pre payment elec meters fitted.Suddenly £20 was gone in 3 days instead of weeks. Phoned & told it was to pay my debt, what debt, sorry, mistake etc blah blah 3 different operatives, 3 different promises, zero result, spoke to supervisor, new promise, zero result. Asked for the address of thier legal dept. which i noted ready to forward to my brother (debt recovery solicitor). next £20 i put on credited me £57, checked meter, debt removed, letter through post stating a/c 0.00 owing & a cheque for £104 .44p for my overspend & £30 goodwill gesture for my phone bill. Meter running really slowly now!!!!! :y

I am going to have a problem with my Gas, they do not seem to read teh meter, yet it is outside so always seem to get estimated account, though I pay monthly. :(

By law they have to read it and inspect it at least once a year,
But since they send "meter men" round these days then the inspection has gone out of the window.

I had Eon send me out a new bill after they were given the reading on my meter, it arrived on Christmas eve and almost gave the missus a heart attack.
It said we owed £1092.34 ::)
It appeared that the Muppet who had spoken to my missus had messed up when typing it in.
Its now been corrected (thankfully) to a more respectable amount :y

If you're with eon, as I am, why dont you just enter the readings monthly online.

I have the opposite problem with the same provider. Meter isn't moving at all. Not coming to fix it until 15th. Had the garage toasty warm when fixing my exhaust yesterday. :-X

It's one of those nasty solid state ones so not a magnet in sight. I'm trying to remember what I did to make it go pop. ::)
